Most likely 80psi + , it's not just the pressure it's also the volume

I remember years ago when they were building the new interchange up the gorge. Some hapless chap decided to try and weld up a rim of a huge earth mover while the tyre was still on the rim.

    RIP.

Car tyres 35+ commercial tyres (van etc) 45+

    Truck tyre ???????

Even beading a bike tyre which seems to pop on at about 40 pounds shows the force inside.
Truck tyres run anywhere from 85 psi up to about 125 psi. And yeah it's the volume of air that adds to the force...

There's been a few fatalities over the years from that, it isn't even safe to deflate, weld and reinflate, the tyre has to be removed

That's why I cant work out why that one went off so badly, it doesn't normally happen

We've set a few off and you have to do a fair bit of damge to the sidewall before they'll pop (all in the interests of research of course)

Even a car tyre or wheelbarrow tyre can do you some damage if it happens

Yup, even small trucks run at least 60-65psi. The Sulco trucks I drove were 65psi and they were little Dyna's.
You don't get to be an old dog without learning a few tricks.
