My son showed me that last night. Even taking into account the design of the car, those impacts and G-forces would have done me in for sure!

    Roll cages.
Should be compulsory in all cars.

All modern cars have them just can't see them behind the trim.

Fuck that. I wonder if the new tar seal had anything to do with that.

Yeh, I posted this a few days ago, but it appears that thread fucked off.

I'm guessing as it's the only video of one to crash there that came out, I'd say it had more to do with driver error or mechanical failure. Although obviously speeds were higher in certain sections.

Never confuse crumple or displacement zones for roll cages.
While they do the same if you hit another car etc........they don't stand much for continuous impacts like rolling down a hill at 100kph. They are one shot wonders effectively. Soon as they have displaced or the point of impact shifts.......your fucked.

This is why NCAP only do one crash at a time with a different car every time.

Think of it like a helmet - sure they last a lot if you hit something. But imagine bashing your head on every car as you go down the motorway. Eventually things give way.

How fast is a bike compared to a car ?

This guy clocked the 4th best ever time (down just a few secs) on a Ducati Multistrada (not the fastest bike going but well up to the task) and riding with a cracked vertebra.

Proper heroic stuff this when you look at the consequences of going off the road... some of it makes the TT look tame
