I have finished washing my KLR650 after today's ride to Port Waikato via the Nikau Palm Cafe and Klondyke Road. I saw wild goats, wild pigs, wild turkeys, wild DR650s, you name it. I had my first experience on metal roads watching riders who seem to know what they are doing. I didn't fall off, but the grader had made some of the stretches pretty wibbly. (Where's a good rut to follow when you need one...)

I need more practise, but I really enjoyed my introduction to adventure riding. My rear K750 Dunlop is squaring off, and it only has 2,100 km on it. I wonder what I should get next? I need something that can last 5,000 km or more.

Many of the other riders took photos (and some video) so there should be some visual records of our sorty into the wild posted here soon. I hope Nic will show us the video she took.

We need more KLRs on these rides.

Let me guess... you're an AUT graduate (graphic design) or you have a teenage daughter who is applying in September this year to take graphic design at AUT in 2013?

Its only "test match rugby" if the Springboks are playing...the Ozzies pose no test....

    Great Day out

Thanks everyone a great day out. Hope we did not keep anyone waiting for too long, two up on the DR on gravel for the first time.

Need to do a Phreaky Phil to that seat and even then I am not sure. Two up on the DR for the whole of the TAT, respect. The search for the perfect Adventure/Tourer Continues.
