Took my Norton for a WOF. Nek minit...

Nice day on Saturday so I took the Commando for a WOF.....its always interesting to watch them check it over...... got its WOF and thought might go for a ride on Sunday....pulling into drive and clutch pulled right back.....
found this....a clutch cable with out 10 hours on it....

Looks like the cable is just poked in a soldered....not splayed or anything.
Supplier said we have sold lots and you are the first to complain.....

    Yeah thats not good....

Did you retrieve the nipple or did it fall into the box?

I use the heavy duty Venhill cables whenever I can - they seem to last.

The nipple is sitting in the box at the moment....the Norton has been pushed to the back of the queue....the joys of classic ownership.

I'll be going for Venhill in the future.....oddly he said they were the same price as the local one......

I had a kit for making up my own cables a while back.

This has just reminded me I haven't seen it since the last house move.

    Hmmmmm.

You need to ease the strain on the cable with clutchless shifting, just use the clutch for getting under way. Hammer weld the next nipple on.
