Does anyone else see a touch of racism here?

The High Court at Auckland has been told that the Crown should treat Maori social service providers differently to other commercial operations.'

Te Whanau O Waipareira Trust has brought a case against the Ministry of Social Development, after having its Family Start initiative for at-risk families cut on grounds that the scheme wasn't good enough.

But the trust says there's an agreement with the ministry that commits the Crown to act in good faith, and support the urban Maori authority in building their own services for tangata whenua.

Trust chief executive John Tamihere says they're a treaty-based contractor - not just any contractor.

He says they have a preferential right to deliver services to improve the lives of urban Maori in West Auckland, because it's clear the Crown hasn't.

Mr Tamihere acknowledges the trust has no right to underperform, but if they stumble and fall they shouldn't be kicked - they should be given another chance.

    The case continues on Tuesday.

How many times do we have to be told that "there is no reverse racism in NZ!".

This is another case of "we are helping our under privileged brothers by ripping them off".

Make no mistake it is not the rest of the tax payers that are getting ripped off as there is only x tax dollars going to help these people. If the "providers" rip it off then it is only the people they are meant to help that miss out.

I dare you to read this Herald article and not be outraged as a NewZealander. Aparrently treating all Kiwis the same as one NewZealand race is discriminatory? This makes me want to strangle something! how is treating everyone the same regardless of race or colour discriminatory?

Surely making special allowances for certain minority groups to give them an 'easier ride' is discriminating against the rest of us?

    Fucking bullshit.

One of the reasons I moved to the Philippines. The white, middle-aged, working male is the most discriminated against in NZ.

Over here I'm treated with respect and dignity by everyone from street beggars to judges. (Of course, there was another reason as well...)

I worked in Mental health for a bit and I can say that from a social/support worker point of view, there's no biased treatment towards teh whiteys, nor are any people of darker than beige skin left out.
In fact, you may find that the race card is played very easily and not often argued against

Only my view from working in a health care place thingy, not really applicable to KB, because it's real.
