    JR80 2004 gearbox oil change

Hi all, I have just bought my son a 2004 JR80. I want to give it a quick service.

I would appreciate a bit of info....

    Gearbox oil change questions.

    1) Where is the oil filter? perhaps I am stupid, but it does not appear to be obvious... and I don't want to start taking things apart unnessessarily (Spelling).
    2) it states 650ml oil capacity. I have just drained the oil and only 350ml came out. is the rest in the filter? or was it just running low on oil? would this have caused any damage?
    3) the oil appears a bit "milky" What would have caused this? Should I be very concerned?

Thanks in advance for any help. Much appreciated.

Any images that could be uploaded would be appreciated.

    It's a 2 stroke - it doesn't have an oil filter.

The milky look of the oil is probably just a bit of condensation mixing with the oil. It's not likely to do any harm.

thanks for the help. (Don't I feel even more dumb right now)

I did think there was something I was missing, but every Google search showed no images but refered to the removal and replacement of the oil filter.

    Thanks again.

Spend a bit more time here and you'll start to feel a whole lot better about yourself.

    1) probably a cartridge type. will be fairly obvious. round bit. unbolt and pull it out.
    2) probably half n half.
it COULD have caused damage. it may not have.
when you're re-filling, check the sight glass for appropriate amount.
    3) water.
3b) if it's old oil, probably not (concerned). if it's not too old, you want to know how water is getting in. check crank case breather, check oil filler seal.
