The Taliban sent us a message/threat, in the hope our spirits would break

The Taliban sent us a message/Threat...in the hope our people & Militarys spirit would break...and we would leave the innocent people of Bamiyan and our Allies to it...

Well, Heres our Armys reply! (A farewell to our fallen)

KIA KAHA NZ Armed forces ...your voice has been heard by Millions! (And they are in AWE!)

    http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/7563...allen-soldiers
Among those moved by the footage was CNN interviewer Piers Morgan, who told his 2.6 million Twitter followers about the "Astounding, and deeply moving, Haka tribute to fallen comrades".

The video was also tweeted by CNN news anchor Anderson Cooper to his nearly three million followers. "Moving video of #NewZealand troops honoring their soldiers killed in #Afghanistan with #Maori war dance," he wrote.

The history of our armed forces clearly shows...We Kiwis don't start fights...we finish them!

Kia Kaha NZ...support our troops and the amazing job they are doing restoring and protecting Bamiyan province

Oh well I guess we should just pull out and leave the innocent people of bamiyan to it then!

...we didnt go there to fight americas war, we sent reconstruction teams in to help the locals rebuild there infrastructure and give then some form of safety...do you think the Taliban will like the new schools?...the fact that the governor of the province is a woman?(the only woman in such a position!) and the fact that they have publicly acknowledged that they actually LIKE having us there protecting them from the Taliban?

...or should we just walk away and watch the masscre on tv from the safety of our couches

We didnt start this war!...we just went there to help the innocent rebuild there lives and to offer some degree of protection

Awesome haka. Seen many hakas in my time. What makes this haka great is that it is a raw display of collective individual emotion like hakas once were, not some formal performance as are many we see these days.

Saw the next rotation of troops at the bar in Waiouru last weekend. They are chomping at the bit and can't wait to get over there to finish the job. While others may find this unbelievable, for a soldier anything less is unthinkable.

When in a conflict situation, some people might turn and run whereas others will stand and fight. When the fighting increases then they fight harder. This is the difference between a civilian and a soldier. There is nothing wrong with running, not everyone has the stomach for conflict so that is why we have an Army to resolve these conflicts while the rest of us are kept safe. The problem is when those without the stomach for it forget their place and allow their irresistable urge to run to influence their opinion of what the Army should do.

It is these people that the Taliban appeal to with their media war.

Yes they are there to do a job. Yes they stand a chance of getting killed. Yes they know the risks and I highly doubt that there isn't a single person who doesn't appreciate that fact. That may well be the reason that Kiwi's are in Afghanistan, but that particular war was started by the yanks and I cacn understand why anyone who stands with the yanks could be perceived as fellow agitators. Sure the Teletubbies should be more thoughtful than just lumping the "peaceful" Kiwi in with attackers, but that just isn't war. It's sad to see people dying for reasons that are anything other than fighting for freedom and I do not see that as the reason this war is being fought.

Good luck to them indeed, but I don't see why they need to be there unless they were invited. These sorts of things have been going on in Africa for decades before this "conflict", yet fuck all was done. That raises some pretty big fuckin questions for me.
    I didn't think!!! I experimented!!!

Very well said. That Haka made me blub

Quite right - why do we need an Army (or Airforce or Navy for that matter) anyway? - it's not like we have a war going on in EnZed is it???

New Zealand and New Zealanders, are just as much at risk from those responsible for the twin towers attacks ... as any american. Or Austrailian for that matter. Those in Afganistan support their intentions of further attacks, and provide food/shelter/equipment and training for their attacks.

And if an attack of any kind (from anyONE) is made on NZ ... and as the USA is an ally of ours ... we can expect their assistance. Because if an attack IS made on NZ ... we WILL need their help.

Being a pacifist doesn't mean ... nothing is worth fighting for. But it does depend on how much you have ... and how badly you want to keep it. And how easy it is (could be) to LOSE it .... or taken off you.

Actually it means fighting is not worth anything.

Pacifism covers a spectrum of views, including the belief that international disputes can and should be peacefully resolved, calls for the abolition of the institutions of the military and war, opposition to any organization of society through governmental force.
