Has tattoo technology changed much in 20 years?

I'm just wondering how some of that fine line ink will look when those girls are 38.

My pals that got ink 20 or more years ago have blurry patches of colour where once was well defined details.

My shoulder tats have feathered edges somewhat in the 10 years I've had them too.

I wont be that keen on looking at photos of those girls when they are 20 year older

Is it anything to do with technology, more biology, as skin ages it changes shape and therefore the tats suffer. I hear they don't stand up to scaring that well either but then again they are scars aren't they?

I don't mind admiring the art but I don't really agree with tats and don't have them so don't know what I am talking about but this is KB after all.
