its a good idea, but as we are all aware from the SHARP site, the cheap 'flip up' helmets mechanism's can fail around 50% of the time, so as long as the lock is at least the quality of Nolan or higher??? But still have to admit I dont like the idea of the back of the helmet coming open. especially as the cerebellum and primitive response cortex's are situated at the back of the skull............. the bits that make you breath etc...

it looks good from the point of after an accident emergency services could remove the helmet fairly easily...

but I wouldn't want the locking mechanisms to break or open during a tumble...

I note your reference to Nolan here. I have dealt with 2 of these in connection with radio comms, and I do not think that much of them at the price they sell for.

One owner complains all the time that he can not lock his visor one or two clicks open. He removed the visor & wore goggles for a while in desperation. That was not much good for comms, so visa is back on now. Fitting the helmet transducers seems to be worse in this helmet than helmets that gave no thought to comms at all!

The second helmet was fully fitted with Nolan Comms headset etc. I looked at the gear & predicted failure within 1000kms. I don't think it lasted that long. Nolan use a jackplug feed to the mic & speakers - that failed (please see my earlier post on jackplugs). There is also a configuration card in the side of the helmet. It looked like the sort of thing you would give a dentist or optician to use.
Bikers are harder on gear than front line soldiers!! Pretty soon I had to bypass all that. Reasonable success since then.

I did like the Nolan Speaker transducers - good quality & still working fine. FYI
