Shipping seems to cost about $10USD for the Clymer series and $25USD for the genuine ones. (The one I was checking out, the Clymer one was half the weight of the factory one).

Anyway worth checking out as all up they are still cheaper than what they are in the shops here, (With our current exchange rate).

Hunt around more and you can download the manuals for free. I have the Yamaha Owners and Servicing Manuals and the Yamaha Promo Book from the net.

Hmmmmm,I have a clymer manual.
Quite a few of the spec's in it are wrong.
Be carefull and double check what you read in those manuals.
Like I didn't need to be told that 26000 is way wrong for exhuast valve clearances but thats what it says in the book.More like 6000 hey!

Yeah, know how you feel, I always am uneasy using my card at a new site. But I have only had good experiences. I don't go buying porn thou'...

I have bought quite a few books, tools (including heavy lathe parts), m/c parts, electronic stuff (including the radar detector which I got just the other day), ALL lots cheaper than here, & that is including freight (these weren't NZ sites either. But no doubt someone will add some sad story to this post.

PS Wari gave me a good tip for a bike shop in the UK.

Check them out. I got genuine stuff for my bike shipped out including freight & the UKpound conversion for less than anyone would sell me the stuff for here. If your supplier needs anything X Japan better check out the Internet yourself as you will probably get it in the same time or quicker. I think the local market still thinks we are stuck in the antipodes and don't have access to the world market.

I am shopping less and less on the local market, sadly... (cutting off my nose to spite my face really).

Quite agree with you myself, having used genuine and Clymer I know which I prefer. Sometimes the pocket talks loudest.

I have been buying through the internet more lately,but I still get worried.They are still declining my card,but I bought a sprocket online for my Honda the day before - I think I must have something wrong,but of course they won't say what,so that's it.Have been using Trademe with only one bad result so far,but it's really my fault...should of asked for more photos.I still mistrust this electronic stuff,but am coming around slowly.

I have found I can buy a lot of stuff from the USA brand new for less than I can get stuff second hand from a wrecker here.I would like to support the local market but Hey,Money talks an BS walks.
I rang around today for a set of carbs for me XS,an the best I could come up with was $500.00 for second hand with no guarantee of anything plus would probably have to rejet,make my own throttle cable an pray.Thats against $600.00 NZ for brand new,c/w Throttle cable,K&N filters,correct jeting, plus two other sizes just in case.Don't know were all this will end but the locals better get their act togeather I reckon.I think maybe some day every thing will be e mail order.Hell look at Trade me,No need to get out of your chair.I just know somebody will list an XS1100 front end sooner or later.Sod the wreckers.This way I get what I want at a resonable price an somebody makes a buck They coudn't get other wise.WIN-WIN.

You think its much cheaper? For my bike its $24.25 +$10.00 US or can get same book locally from Hi Tech books in Chch for $59.95. Not much difference is there?

Up here the bike shops are charging me $69, maybe someone can tell me a reasonably priced shop in AK too, so we can put our money their way.

Well,I finaly got my card to work(why don't they have a standard form on all sites,fill them out the same) orderd the factory manual and it came sometime last week.I don't know what it cost in NZ dollars cause I don't care - I got something that I needed that I couldn't obtain here.It's for an XT600E,not an XT400E cause they don't exist,but only the bore size is different,having the factory is a big plus for me - there is very little about XT600Es on the net,the only site is German which is a bit difficult to read.

They don't have a manual for the XLV750,but there is one I can download,same with my KT250,workshop and parts manuals on the net,the rarer the bike the bigger the support network.

Between all us KB'ers we've probably got most of the manuals we need...why not start a listing of who's got what, so we can share the info???

For starters I have:

FZR400 1WG & 3TJ, YZF600R Thundercat, R6, YZ-125 '03, XJ-550/FJ-600, XZ-550, RD-250/350, ZX-600 Ninja, GSXR-750/1100 85 to 92, and GT-500A, can scan relevant sections if needed...

your in the same boat as me, i have some online resource - all in jabo language. I'm looking at getting the japanese manual. My mother reckons some girl at her works father used 2 sell kwakas so shes gonna ask for me, but if redbaron and motomail cant help i would expect that we are all gonna have to learn to read japanese!!!
