At least this time they killed on of their own.

    Do a skid!
What a fucking shit head of a thing to post.
    Wrong place, wrong time
I knew the young man who was killed and his parents well. He was brought up in our community that thought a lot of not only him but his twin brother, his other 2 brothers and both his parents. I have ridden around nz with his father, who is a active motorcyclist and the young man himself was invoved in motorcross. He was loved and respected by those who were lucky enough to know him.
A lot of people in the motorcycling community know this family and perhaps you should treat the incident with the compassion we know it deserves.

Could you show us where it says he was a fellow boy racer?

This is Christchurch; if he was at an illegal drag/meet up, then it's safe to say you could identify him under the heading 'boy racer'.

    I would have.

    But then I'm old.

Which is probably why I don't do that kind of shit.
Most of us got up to shit when we were young. And we would've thought the same if something happened. You can't blame the young for thinking like the young. Why do you think the armed forces (grunts in particular) are made up of 18-25yr olds? Because it will 'never happen to them'. At my age, 36, I know it could happen to me.

Care to show me anywhere it says that that's what they were doing mate? From what I've read..they were simply waiting for a mate on the side of the road before heading to a party and got skittled. And there's no mention of 'illegal drag/meet up either.

I'm afraid that you could not have known that, it's local knowledge. You will probably find that the police had actually been out there to break them up earlier that night, or had plans to later on at least. Been this way here since long before I was born... of course the vilification of their hobby has seen them pushed further and further out of town; nobody ever 'fixing' the problem, only ever moving it on.

In my day we were in the middle of town, which for the most part kept speeds down... having said that, my mob was always more interested in the vehicles than the socialising, so street racing as it were never really interested us, but plenty were the complete opposite. Of course, having motorcycles, we headed to motorcycle related playgrounds like the Port Hills. I'm only on the outside looking in, so it's only very much a guess and I could be totally off base, but I suspect that the socialisers outnumber the vehicle enthusiasts by a pretty good number now... certainly in my day the tide was starting to turn.

Perhaps saying that he deserved it or the like is a long bow to draw... but it can't be denied that it's a risk every participant takes. It is certainly less unfortunate than when some wanna-be drifter mounts the curb and kills a child as has happened here in the past; at least these participants cannot plead ignorance to the risk.

Yeah I know. I can only go off what I read. The only people that will ever really know 100%...are the ones that were there. That counts you out too.

Totally, it's definitely as assumption on my behalf. But it would be fair to say it's a 'known' meeting point

There's a gay bar down the road from here. Lots of people drink there. Not all are gay.

    Be that as it may.

Yes, it is completely possible he's turned up at a known boy racer haunt in the middle of bum fuck nowhere to genuinely meet friends before a party, has never been there before under the guise of a boy racer, and isn't lying about that to protect himself... he is 17 after all, so his credibility is impeccable and teenagers never lie to protect themselves or friends, even if just from a mother's scorn. And I have a 24 inch diamond studed gold plated cock.
