    Its not uncommon

this sort of thing happens often, one of the reasons Fire & Ambulance have changed their uniform, so we are not confused as Police Officers, I am sure both Glen and Sue could tell of simular incidents.

I can recall a number of occasions when our firefighters have been assulted while doing "Cut Outs" at car accidents, the common denominater is bozze.

I think Sue and Glen may well recall the case of a paramedic being thrown threw a plate glass window of a pub in otahuhu a few years ago.

A mate of mine who was a paramedic on motorbike was often confused as a police officer, which made his job of paitent care difficult as he was often being inturupted to ask who was at fault and would they get a ticket.

In the case of Firefighters we generally out number the bad guys, but it is a pain in the Arse and an added complication.

Yep this sort of thing happens quite often. Last year one of our ambulances was trashed as the crew were inside dealing with a sick patient by a group of thugs who thought it would be a bit of fun!

There's nothing better than trying to attend to a patient when you're surrounded by drunken onlookers - for some reason one of them always wants to have a go at you - mostly because all they see is a person in uniform and their first thought is that it must be a cop.

People who are grieving can be unpredictable - I've been kicked in the back while trying to do a resuscitation, and had a punch thrown at me (fortunately he missed) when trying to resus a baby.

I have a simple solution: take names and blacklist them. When they next need medical attention, let them bleed

You guys should be issued with dart guns, you are allowed to administer drugs to people to prevent pain so you excuse could be "I was going to beat the crap out of him first, but didn’t have time, so I went straight into stage 2 of the procedure."
One day the same person will call you for help...
"You will notice a slight jab, followed by a right cross..."

F*&k the dart guns!! give them real guns. No more pissing around lets arm our cops etc.... Shoot first ask questions later. Just like Stephen Wallace (?) and instead of an enquiry give the cops a medal.

If I saw something like that incident whether its illegal or not I would take to them with a tire iron. Sorry but these guys dont count as human in my books, all the ambulances are there to do is save lives.

Has this country gone stark raving bloody mad!!! I watched "Sunday" on TV one tonight and that Police comander or who ever he was needs stringing up by the balls. I used to respect our Police (right or wrong) because without them there would be total chaos and that they have such a thankless job. These days I think they just seem to be the "official" gang of the day and their socialist masters (misstresses) are a bunch of bloody wankers. God help the future of this country and our grandkids. They arrested the citizen and let the criminal go. Please tell me if I got that wrong!! John.
