Tell us more, O venerable OldRider! What is a 'cart'? 'Steam engine'?
Just maybe in my lifetime, we will see Six Million Dollar men and women all around us... [For those too young to remember, it's a '70s TV show.]

Your beliefs don't make you a better person, your behaviour does.
I was born in 61 and remember the Space race and so on and look where we are now. And my 4 year old Daughter(I know, I started late in life!!!!) was just looking at the Big Dog vid and asked what it was. She thought it looked silly and I just looked at her and wondered what her future holds. Told her that the world would probably be full of stuff like that.
She said "Ok then".
Hmmmmmm...

A cart is the wagon pulled by the horse, called a dray in our case, a two wheeled box with long shafts that the horse was coupled into!
Model T fords etc were very common on the roads and the County Council fleet of trucks still had solid rubber tyres and chain drives!
WW2 was probably responsible for the delay in modern vehicles etc getting here but that was the day as it was when I was a little kid.
The very first family outing that I can consciously remember was by horse and dray, we went to visit people who lived 3 miles away!
It took longer to go out and catch the horse and harness it up to the dray ready to go than it does to fly from Christchurch to Wellington today!
My father was a steam engine driver on the railway and the horse and dray belonged to my grandfather, who was a dairy farmer!
Then we got the power on, the telephone on (a 6 party line) and an inside water flush toilet, things were looking up for us!It's been all go ever since!
They did have motorcycles then, army Indians were the go, I learned to ride on one, in the paddocks, with the big kids!Choice!
I'm not THAT young, OR!I knoweth those things of which thou speakst...
