Well what a Difference 8 days make and a well equiped workshop..

Headed down to a mates engineering workshop asking if I could start making parts up for the Cafe Racer and this is what it looked like when I took the bike in....



Getting stuck in and sorting out what is what and doing the motor first making sure it fitted and mounts made up to accomadate the new engine...

I ended up with this

Then it was time too sort out the front end


The thing about long term projects is things change alot but now I am happy,the switch blocks and Hand controls are of a Triumph Daytona 955i,

Moving down the forks we have MC19 front forks,matched up to a TM special front have no idea what its off but I made it fit,The rotor came of a KTM Motard and the caliper of and XR 650 to be honest it all took a while to match up but I enjoy having things outside the square..

I have utilised the CB250 front guard but have also modified it somewhat using the orignal guard mount as a base and making up some V-mounts to attach too the front forks...having acess to a Spot-weilder made the job so easy as it has with other jobs done as you will see...

Now I have a Digital Speedo,I needed to change the angle of the speedo drive as the sensor plugs stright into the orignal drive but needed too run paralell with the forks hence the need plate to hold the drive in its new postion

Moving to the rear of the bike....I have made a new alloy chain guard,reshaped the tail piece and installed the battery under the speed hump,

Oh The access to a folder and use of the spot weilder once again is a bonus

Today I went down with the intention of making up the new exhurst headers but got side tracked and ended up working on mounting the carb in the bike and reworking the frame to suit the carb which came of a CRF450,the inlet manifold is now going to be 50mm longer.Oh I can't wait too start work on the motor which will be resleeve from a 500out to a 600.

Next week when I go back to the workshop,I will be making up a tool tray to go under the seat and will also house the CDI,and Starter solenoid...modify the tank to fit and make up a seat pan..oh and finishe of the new header pipes.......

Still a very long way to go yet,
Working on another 12 months before its finished as there will be alot of polishing,chroming and painting to be done,rebuilding of the engine,making of the wiring loom,new suspension all round...

Please please get a sticker made that says "This ain't no Mudd Club" and put it somewhere on the bike. Music geeks will shit themselves.

Fitted the tank today and made up the New tank mount so will fix that to the frame on Wednesday,Also got the tool tray made today and fitted to the bike,it will be under the seat and will house the Fuse box and the Ignition (yes I made another change)

Will head back down Wednesday and Start on the seat pan and headers hopefully all the frabrication will be completed this week,

Finished the seat pan the other day and cut open tank fitted the fuel gauge sender into it yesterday,hardest part was getting enought heat from the iron to solder the adapter plate to the tank,

Oil tank is almost complete and managed to find some alloy hose conectors to weild to the tank and replace the current Gb engine hose conection,I will be running with annodised fittings..What did susprise me was that one place I went too in town told me to just weild brass fittings to my alloy tankwouldn't be so bad if he was joking but he wasn't......

Have done as much as I can at the work shop so have brought the bike home to start the next phase of making the wiring loom and running breather hoses,going to be much easier with the bike obn the lifter and being able to listen too the Sound rather than ZM
