Standardisation of National SBK/SS etc

Interesting commentary during yesterdays WSBK about the intent from the powers that be to try and influence the rules to be standardised in national competition across countries to allow easier cross participation but like all good ideas the implementation part is the tricky bit..

Because of the pressures imparted by different manufacturers and individulas over time to obtain an advantage will inevitably win over with the direction of things. (Note: Going backwards is rarely an advantage, unless of course a series organiser suddenly finds themselves with no teams wanting to come and play , then they tend to re-think things......)

So long as there is a controlled tyre rule it is all very pointless anyhow. Oz have ditched them would be good to see others follow. It would be great if the world run under the same rules but imagine if we had World SBK rules SNZ may build one bike if we lucky but thats not enough for a series is it!

I dont think the idea is to run wsbk rules, but parity across national competition in countries such as US, U.K, Aus, Japan, NZ etc. At least if the technical rules were the same it would just be a matter of tuning the suspension for different spec/manufacturer tyres. Control tyres are the not the way forward now seeing that but open with a price cap seems a good idea

I assume the commentators were talking about this ^? From a quick pondering of the situation there are some points:

1) Every country already has some inturpreptation of the rules, and that countries teams have built their exierience around those rules.
2) WSBK are probably some of the most liberal rules for the class, allowing the most modifications and therefore the most money to be spent.
' 2a) Does that mean they will look at a national rule level, and then a international rule level?
3) It does make sense to have everyone working with the same rules, and would definately encourage more overseas opportunities for everyone.
4) Would the manufactures be all that concerned? Their main interest is to make as much money as possible off of sales of bikes. Second to that would be to win national and international championships, because that would help them with the former.
