It was all good. I ended up doing a couple of layoffs of Harcourt-Werry and the accompanying gravel roads that run alongside it

    The lonely biker...

I'll still try to see if I can garner any interest in doing some shorter rides during the dark months.

Ratti has a protégé I'll keep an eye out but can't promise anything, heck I find it hard enough to make the summer rides

I second what DDM just said. It's just that, I will have Theatre Group coming up so will try but will not always be up for it. I would have loved to come out yesterday but was attempting my first trip over the Rimutakas. Scary as all hell it was!

Takas is only as scary as you make it. Ride it at a speed your comfortable with and and it's just another road. It can still be fun at a nice steady pace.
I'm only wearing black until they develop something darker

I sometimes get very bad headaches after riding or driving for long distances. I had a bad headache the whole way over and I didn't feel comfortable riding all that fast, and I held up traffic behind me (although I did pull over and let them pass).

True hawkeye, but as we know being human is that new experiences can sometimes be scary especially if ones confidence level might be a bit low

I found the same the first time I did the 'takas, some of those cars really know that road Think I was on a GN at the time too, but can't blame the bike it was my lack of experience on windy hills on a bike. At least it is centre lined all the way, now the akas ....
However Hawkeye is correct, take your time, ride at your pace and I will add don't be ashamed to let the cars go first. I even had to let cars go on my first time over the Paekok but it was night, bucketing down at the time and the visor was fogging
The 'takas have a rep and as the Dr said it is only human to be apprehensive the first time.
Hope to see you on one of k1w33d's proposed rides if its not too
