Pretty sure it had a rep before the interwebs - like when Sir Robert managed to get a corner named after him and not because he was the Prime Minister

Hey all , Just come back from a long lay-off from motorbikes (Used to ride with the Manawatu crowd regularly a few years ago) , Picked myself up a Curvaceous Yellow 2002 SV650S to get back into things.Holy heck these things are fun to ride. Not too familiar with many of the local roads around here though i've been over the Takas a few times .Everyone I know seems to be complaining about the cold and not riding lately so ive been doing daily solo rides

Would it be ok to start coming along to these social rides ? What's all the details ? (I'm in Hataitai/Evans Bay area)

    Cold? What Cold?

    Hey HornetBoy,

I am looking at doing a few short slow rides over the darker months as the BRONZ rides are officially over. They will be slow paced rides for people who are uncomfortable or just not interested in trying to keep up with some of the faster paced rides. Haven't really thought about any routes yet but they will likely be starting at Lower Hutt or Kaiwharawhara and be around 30-40 minutes. The BRONZ rides usually have a good mix of experienced and not-so-experienced riders and newer riders can get feedback on their riding practises. The winter rides will not be so "formal" but hopefully we will be able to share our experiences with each other and enjoy some of the social aspects of group rides. But it all depends on who shows up on the night I suppose. I try to get out as often as I can and will be sitting my restricted license soon so the more practise I can get the better. I will not be doing anything this Tuesday coming (long weekend sent me broke) but will probably try to get out on Wednesday and or Thursday and or every other day until I am broke again. Others might be keen to do something on Tuesday though so keep an eye on this thread and tag along if you are interested.

    Chur,

    Chris Adam

Glad to hear it, be good to link up with a few local riders ,I've lived here for four years but only recently got back on the horse after a fairly big crash a few years back on an organised ride in Manawatu.
Very good/hard way to learn how not to ride a motorcycle

Ill keep regular on this thread so i can make sure to be able to make these rides,Wednesdays and Thursdays will work for me .

Yeah Im sure I see you around now and then

The 12hour days are killing me plus its getting cold in the mornings (yes im soft) where I am moving to is 4.1-4.2km from work so am going to start running again and bike will be used on Tuesdays for rides (if organized ) and the weekends

If its raining I am undecided haha, trying to avoid buying another car or a larger bike (my track car needs some money spent however as I haven't driven it since 2009 :s )

    Hey Chris,

Sounds like a good idea. I hope to be riding again in a couple of weeks therefore I would be a keen starter for most days

    Cheers

I ride all year round, but work shifts, so my days off are frequently not weekends.... but I'm usually off on a ride somewhere on them... But I do tend to ride a bit of 'distance' on my day off jaunts,,,, 3-400k's is not unusual. So always happy to pick up a riding buddy.
