1990 VFR 750 street fighter. Advice please

I'm thinking of turning my VFR into a street fighter. Its a long term project and I'm currently tossing up between spending money welding the fairing back up and painting the plastics or just stripping it completely and removing anything that looks like a fairing. However I'm not sure I can achieve it as a lot of the tail end work has been fabricated specifically for the bike and I'm not really wanting to spend a ton of money on getting items fabricated just to achieve this look.

Has anyone at KB done something similar before? Any advice would be more than welcome.

Don't be surprised if this idea never gets off the ground, it's a bit of a pipe dream for me at the moment. I just want pointing in the right direction.

I don't think the big VFRs are suited to street fightering. As you say, you'll need to redo the rear end to make it look decent. I have a bros (same bike as in the pic) and did a new tail for it, was a lot of work. People also use alternative tails, from ducatis and RS125s etc. These are a lot easier especially if you make the new subframe out of steel, or pick one that can be mounted using the original subframe, or donor subframe.

Guy in austrila done it its on vfrworld.com he had to splice toghter whole new wiring loom .
As the problem is without the fairings there ugly with wires coolant bottle pipes, as is my machine

I welded my front guard with solidering iron and still holding togher and was smashed as

If you want sell your smashed fairings i be keen ,but i think be a mistake, i got try find replacment

fairings for mine am looking at 1 grand from germany at the moment

when I see street fighters made from what used to be fully faired bikes, it just screams out "DROPPED MY BIKE< TO CHEAP TO FIX IT PROPERLY" - just my opinion though.

re the fairings, you should send a PM to Hayd3n on here. He is a plastics fabricator, and he will usually work for booze. he does an awesome job, got him to do some repairs on a bike I bought as an insurance write off. Bike has been painted, and you would never know now!

The issue I see is I'm guessing you can't fabricate stuff yourself? If this is the case then don't do it, it'll cost a fortune to get it done by a pro.

Thanks for the replies guys. Based on what you fellas have said, I think I'll shelve this idea until I win big on lotto.
