    Convince me...

Right you droids, convince me why I should buy a Galaxy Tab 10.1 over the iPad 3.
Nows your chance to sway me & you've got some uphill work to do.

I want to know why a Galaxy Tab would be "better" than an iPad, why should I "be assimilated" & things like "you can get to root" or "it has 'faster' specs" ain't gonna cut it I'm not interested in any of that I'm only interested in user experience.

So lets have it, convince me.

Theres another option to consider - especially if you already have Microsoft Windows computer and / or laptop and that is Microsoft Tablet coming out by the end of Oct 2012. Microsoft is waging all their bets into this to stop the increasing market share of apple.

Barking up the wrong tree there unfortunately. I'm not at all impressed with the "tile" look MS is going for & furthermore I'm not impressed by anything (with exception to a couple of things) MS does.

Because buying the galaxy sticks it to "the man".

In this case the corporate greed of apple, that should be enough.

But really who cares, they are both pointless items that you don't need.

a whisper in your shell like.... "Android" branded products are essentially Samsung Galaxys, smart phones & tablets. The hardware is the same as or in a phone I saw recently better than the galaxy.
The best bit is they are a mere third of the price, warranted, loaded & ready to go without the firmware which is annoying in both apple & Samsung products.
Any hoo, food for thought if you are of an adventurous nature.

I don't have a tech answer, just what I've read and absorbed. Apple was almost bankrupt in the mid-90s and was saved by Microsoft. Ironic eh.

What Apple do supremely well is marketing and presentation. Younger buyers in particular are drawn to the gleam and upmarket status of iStuff. But underneath it's just a laptop/phone/tablet, not a religious experience.

Apple products are expensive for what you get. Apple lock owners into iTunes and have other software/apps limitations.

My 17 yr son recently spent his life's savings on a Sony Tablet S after researching the choices. He uses it at school, home, everywhere and is very happy.

I've only used the iPad but the latest retina screen is pretty awesome and great for watching BSB, WSB, MGP etc on youtube.

Plus brilliant for reading mags such as fastbikes, streetbike, motorcyclist, Sportrider etc. Annual subscriptions for as low as $14pa through Zinio.

I can choose from a 3.5" phone, 13.5" laptop, 17" laptop, 32" tv or a 49" lcd tv to watch stuff on.
And I can surf the web on all of them.
Guess with one i use the most? I give you a clue, the screen is more than 11".

I've already joint the "Dark-Side" & I'm enjoying my stay here, very relaxing.

iTunes isn't a problem at all on Macs

No reason to sell your soul with Apple, they just make it dark. Androids the one whom takes the soul in the "assimilation" process when you're "upgraded" to a cybermen.

As for why I want one... present for the lady, she doesn't want to sit at a desktop when doing basic shit & doesn't want a full blown laptop a tablet is much more convenient.

I can't really say not giving money to Apple but then giving it to Samsung &/ Google is really "sticking it to the man" they're all corporates with much greed & all huge players in the "new age". Giving money to any of them is feeding "the man"

And yes they are pointless & I don't "need" them, but so are alot of things in life & it's usually the pointless crap that we get most enjoyment out of case in point for many, Bikes

It won't be for me, present for the lady... rather than a full blown laptop with more features & power than she'll ever possibly use & tablets are a much more convenient size too (if you're just doing the basics like she will be)

Yep Apple was bailed out by MS in the late 90's but not for Apple's sake. That was MS looking out for MS.
What Apple do supremely well is pretty much everything from start to finish, which does include but is in no way limited to marketing & presentation.
The price difference in tablets is negligible, as for iTunes as above not an issue on Mac. Software/App limitations is mainly fanboi penis comparison, no real world implications for 96% of users.

Yes would have to agree on your first point.
If you think that then who cares which one you buy?
It will in the end come down to the one you want and at the end of the day that's what matters not what us "cyber gods" think

Apple products are a waste of time. They sell you an inferior product and trick you into thinking that you have somehow bought a superior product. They are aimed at n00bs who have no fucking idea what they're buying, so the advertising is cleverly targeted at those kind of people. The Apple business model is dishonest, and there is no reason why you should buy an overpriced fashion accessory just to try an be "cool". Funnily enough I've met very few people in the computer industry who are Apple fans, because they know a rip off when they see one.

Buy an Android device, root it, and put Cyanogenmod on it. You'll have much more freedom being able to run things as root, and you'll get much more enjoyment out of it than an iPad.
