    DVD authoring software?

I'm looking for a program that will

    1. trim and add fade in/out to files
    2. program chapters and menus
    3. work with divx or xvid or mpg2

I've used Ulead DVD Moviefactory 6 and it does what I want... with the exception it has chronic issues with playback.

For example, I select a clip to add a fade in & out. Then when I click to play the preview it stutters and skips. Ignoring that, I render the dvd and save it as an ISO (or VOB folder) and when I play those, it stutters the same as in the preview.

    Lame!

I've also tried Pinnacle Studio 12 which plays clips fine for 15 seconds, then video pauses while sound carries on. Studio 12 works great with the uncompressed dvi video my video camera records though.

Nah, don't think that piece of crap will handle divx and authoring with menus.

I've just had a trail go with the bought out Ulead DVD Moviefactory 6 (Corel DVD Moviefactory 7), but it had the same problem.

Just looked up some reviews. Going to soon do a trial of Cyberlink Powerdirector

Well Cyberlink Powerdirector 10 just crashed on the computer I wanted it to run. Going to try Corel Videostudio Pro X5 next (and powerdirector 10 on this computer)

Paid for:Nero is really good. Decent priced too.

Freeware: The Win 7 movie making thingie is good for editing.
XP/Vista. Use DVD Flick for making chapters and then imgburn to cut the disk.

Cyberlink one is doing the trick on my main computer. Doesnt run on the slave computer I was wanting it to run. I guess I'll use Corel DVD Moviefactory on the slave, and if theres a probably with playback, I'll have to do it on this computer.
