    Decent ankle brace

I fooked it a couple of weeks ago and each time I twist in a particular way it leaves me hoppin around in agony for a few minutes. Just been chasing middle daughter around the house and although it hasn't gone pop it's left me with a widdle bit of pain. I know I know harden the fuck up... but the 5's starts again next week and I'd like to get it supported to see if it'll help with. Surely there must be some crashers oot there with decent recommendations/experience with ankle braces?
    I didn't think!!! I experimented!!!

I have torn the ligaments in both of my ankles (one falling from a horse, the other out hunting deer), the only real advice I can give you on the subject is to let it rest and let it heal! Time is the best cure and everyone is always far too busy to let their injuries heal properly (myself included!). As far a braces are concerned, the only thing I found that helped me get back riding and hunting sooner was a decent pair of boots that laced up past my ankles. Strap yourself in real tight and hope for the best

The fullas at A&E said there was nothing torn or broken, although I think I may have a stray piece of very pointy bone in there somewhere as when I rub my foot down the side of my other foot I get a seriously sharp jag in one place. As ya say it's nigh on impossible to get the time off to let it heal properly and with the girls constantly trying to kill each other I'm out of my seat more often than not. I'll look into some basketball boots and see if they'll help. Ta much.

Buy yourself a pair of "chainsaw" boots,,,used to be called "Forestry" boots but chainsaw sounds cooler I guess.

They'll outlast any motorcycle boot ever invented an things you might step on will die a quick and clean death.

They give "very good" ankle support as well.

Hmmm,,,If you don't want to spend the $350 for the best pair of boots ever made.

Just strap your ankle and foot with Duct tape after putting your socks on for 5"s,,,what ever 5's is.

heh, I did that for the "final" during the week and still managed to pull a couple of stupid moves that had me hopping off the pitch.

5's is 5-a-side football, or in NZ parlance (and it irks me to type the words), indoor soccer.

+1 for sports strapping tape. Learn how to do it yourself or get a physio to teach Mrs Mash to strap it properly. Oh, shave the hair off from wherever the strapping will go first too

    depends what u needz.
a chemist should be able to ply you with one that's pretty much a very elastic sock type arangement - these are good, but you need to use them properly

(maybe claim some of your ridiculous ACC levies back with a visit to the physio?)

anyway.. with the elasto-socks, don't leave them on 24/7 or your muscles will get lazy. do stretches with/without it on aswell. it's a SUPPORT and will not stop you from twisting it or doing further damage, but can alleviate the pain. failing that i can get some really cool drugs for pain

elsewise you could get forest-gump on your ass, with some stainless steel rods and a powerdrill...

I was relatively well bandaged up the other day after following a physio in t'internets instructions... but silly moves like jumping and turning to use the inside of your right foot around the back of the left leg to get at the ball don't sit well with the ankle for some reason... aaaaaand I missed the ball (that was pre game warm up ). I may just have to take it a little easier for a while and not leap into challenges etc... but I'll likely give the tape a shot next week as no doubt every little helps. I've never been injured before and there is likely a wee touch of karma going on as I've been giggling at the fit fullas pulling muscles etc... Praps it's time to shed a little weight eh

I don't think the elastic sock will do it for some reason and have seen, what look like, some sturdyish ankle braces that looked like they'd do the trick. Expecting miracles no doubt.

(nahhhhh, someone else can make better use of the levies).

I do rotate, wiggle and stretch it, the foot that is, and have found some nice new clickings that accompany the motion. Dunno iffen I wanna dope myself up on pain killers in case I do even more damage and not notice it.

T'would make for some interesting challenges spechully if they're spiked.

Football is a genre of ball sports played by teams on a field. Association football (refered to as soccer) is the most popular type of football. Other types of football games include rugby league, rugby union and Australian rules. Just like in England where you 'hoover' the floor and any van is a transit, just because it is the most popular brand of a type of product doesn't mean it's the proper name for it.

This usually really pisses soccer nuts off haha but I find these arguments funny. Look in the Oxford English dictionary, for the English definition of football, written by one of the most highly regarded universities in England.
