    Write your own rules

Write a complete (ish) list of rules for MotoGP that you would implement in 2014.

Make sure you cover as much as possible (testing, replacement riders, weights, electronics etc)

    Here's my go at it

    • No displacement limit
    • No engine configuration limit
    • No limit on the type of engine other than it must run on the control fuel
    • Gearbox limited to 6 ratios
    • Single clutch only
    • Fuel is controlled and supplied and must be no more than 25 litres per race
    • Minimum weight xxx kg
    • Each rider starts the year with 9 engines for the season
      1. each rider has his allocation reduced by 1 engine per race win to a minimum of 5 engines for the season
      2. exceeding the number of engines receives a penalty of starting from pit lane once per engine over the limit
      3. engines are deemed sealed once they cross the exit of pit lane
    • ECU hardware and all sensors are controlled and supplied but software isn't
    • For ECU software teams have the option of
      1. developing their own
      2. using the supplied software
        1. any changes to the supplied software must be immediately made available for all teams that are using the supplied software (teams developing their own do not have access to this software in any way, shape or form)
        2. the supplied software is not available for use outside MotoGP
        3. teams that move to developing their own software after using the supplied software are not permitted to use any part of the supplied software at all
    • Teams can have a nominated replacement rider (1 replacement for every 2 riders)
    • Testing
      1. each rider (including replacement riders) is allocated a set number of tyres for testing and may not use any other tyres
      2. replacement riders can test at any time but must not do more total laps than the regular riders they are nominated to replace have done to that point in time
      3. should a replacement rider be promoted to regular rider a new replacement rider must be nominated
    • Maximum of 2 bikes per rider

Pretty straight forward except for the software. Essentially that means using a model similar to Open Source Software. I reckon rules like these would leave enough scope for the factories to do their thing but close the gap for the non-Factory teams without having to spend excessive amounts of money.

In theory you could have a 1600cc 2 stroke W6 cylinder. As long as it used no more than the 25 litres per race of course.

Two wheels, no traction control or abs.
    25ltrs pump fuel max.
Otherwise open. It'll self limit with tyre life and fuel consumption etc.

    Go for it.
Love to see someone try to get a 300hp turbo monster weighing 130kg around a track without killing the tyres...or themselves

Do they really though? Maybe in the smaller classes...but I seriously doubt it on the big boys.

Released from point A, get to point B before everyone else.

point B will be at least 2000km away.

No ethics, no politics, no limits, no rules, no restarts.

    Here's one for ya then.

Teams must have 3 bikes at every meet, with one auctioned off to another team for use or disassembly after every race if the reserve of $XX is met. All susp and engine settings can be changed before the sale though. No limitations on electronics/tyres, 22L of fuel only.

    What about:

Fuel Limited to a control 'pump' type with 25l or so limit.
No rider aids. (Electronic things that help with control, not the bum aids type)
    5 Speed gearbox max.

Perhaps some mechanism to limit the engines used in a season.

    Everything else open.

Mate, so far everyone has implied that two strokes should be allowed.

    Fewer rules the better eh!!

Wrong amount of strokes Bro. That sounds all good for Superbikes!
