Sam and I might be keen to come (have to go to Middlemore anyway as my gran is there) but usually we catch a ride, anyone from the North Shore going who we can follow?

No.
I have nothing against the cause , and good on them for doing it, however I have nothing to do with the RKs group, nor do I wish to be associated in anything that they are involved with.
red rep as much as you like

The only reason I only ride in the Iron man Class is I have no friends left to enter the two man events,
my own fault really.
Hi PF, I'm going to try and organise a few of us to meet at Coleman's and we can ride through together. Watch this space!!!!Originally Posted by placidfemme

Would either of you explain the RK reasoning?? I have never heard of them, just thought increasing the numbers might be good, but if there is something afoot, I wouldn't mind knowing...![]()

There's nothing wrong with the Red Knights. It's actually an American organisation, predominantly made up of firefighters over there. Over here members are from all emergency services and money is raised for the burns unit at MIddlemore as well as setting up a burns support unit in Northland. The Northland chapter was set up about 4 years ago, and the Auckland chapter 1 1/2 years ago. Speedmedic and myself were founding members of the Auckland chapter, and I am still treasurer for the club. Whilst F/F, SM and myself have no problems with the whole concept of the club, the organised rides for members don't really fit into our riding styleOriginally Posted by Gremlin

At this stage I'm not going to be able to make the burns run - am working on that day and haven't been able to organise a shift change, as well as still not having my bike back. But I would be grateful to all the KBers who turn up to support this great cause.

ahh. Not interested in being a member, nor going on their normal organised rides.
Back protector will probably arrive Saturday, so what better way to use it first for making up the numbers on a charity ride.![]()

Can a moderator or SpankMe please put (copy and paste) what I have on the event calender over onto the home page. re: this event.
As I have no idea how to do it.
Thanks.
Scorpygirl and I will be there. Look forward to catching up with more KBers.
Keep the shiny side upright, Rhino.
Having burnt my hand and spent 3 days at Middlemore in the Plastics Ward I am fully supportive of this charity ride. Luckily I have no scars but I don't have the same flexibility in my left hand as I do in my right. It was touch and go whether I was going to need surgery or not but thankfully the pendulum swung in the positive direction. Thank goodness for Rhino and his quick action in getting me into the bathroom and my hand under the cold tap!!! Also I volunteer for Radio Lollipop at Starship Hospital so anything to help sick kids out gets my support too.Originally Posted by Rhino

Just to be sure... is the route L-plate friendly?I'm keen. I bought my bike from an RK member in Whangarei.
