I pulled the clutch off and cleaned up the plates before getting some fresh gearbox oil in there because the clutch wasn't properly disengaging.
Some fresh avgas and Elf oil (thanks big daz) and she runs! After warming up and the choke off the smoke cleared and it seemed to run pretty nicely. The clutch disengages as expected now. Some 2004+ style fairings are on order and I made a mounting bracket for the brake master cylinder (there was none).
Getting excited!
I spent a few hours at the house of speed (savoured youth) this evening, praying to the gods of two strokes and hatching plans for world bucket domination with the professor. Thanks mate, always hugely appreciated. Well Cully guessed it, at 40 rwhp, I'm pretty happy. We couldn't get a proper ignition feed for the RPM so the graph below is speed over power which I realise has some what limited use. It may have something to do with it running total loss?
I rode it around the house of savoured youth carpark and damn I'm excited to get it on the track!
Shut it off at 13,000 rpm in top gear at 183km.
For reference, it's on 30:1 Elf, avgas, has a powerjet carb, factory pipe and a VHM head.
I also had my FXR with me to try a pipe i slapped together. It's a mega with a muffler built into the end and sounds quite nice.
To be honest I was expecting quite a large change in the power curve (a round curve) and for the long bell mouth I have on the end to not work so well.
That did not turn out to be true, however a hole in the power curve from the other exhaust was substantially filled in. A shorter bell mouth made things worse and an even LONGER bellmouth further improved the power curve without increasing peak power.
A few different main jets (smaller and bigger) were tried with both instances destroying the power curve.
Blue line is the crap hole pipe I had on it with the long bellmouth.
Red line is the better pipe with the extra long bellmouth.
That should make at least a noticeable improvement around the tight kart tracks we race on.

I got a ride on Cully's/Av's GPRS125 to check if it was still leaking gearbox oil and damn that was fun. Super motivated to get mine done now it's a bloody rocket.

Holy crap that was fun! First time on a bike at Hampton Downs, first time racing a proper GP bike. The incredible lightness and brakes had me grinning all day and the ability to carry proper corner speed had me reaching for the bravery pills. It's a pity the tires were far worse than I thought and really just needed the bin. I've ordered some more this morning and hopefully be able to get out to Taupo for a testing day on Wednesday.
I did a painfully slow 1m 30s lap in practice/qualifying whilst trying to get used to the track and the bike. In race one I improved a stack with a 1:24:4 and in the last race had a best of 1:24:3. I finally figured out the proper gearing to use and where to carry more speed to keep in the pipe. I had set some basic braking markers early on then after talking with Rick I pushed these back and thought a bit harder on some of my lines. Whilst I couldn't drastically improve from the 1:24 in race 3, I was feeling much more confident and am looking forward to some new tires. The last lap of the last race the stinger and muffler cracked and kinda fell off, deafening the crowd. I suppose I should have had a muffler mount/hanger huh
I need to find another 7 seconds to be getting anywhere but that will come with a butt load of track time. I got put at the back of the superlite class and I was the only 125 GP bike there! A bit disappointed really but that's to be expected. The thing certainly got a lot of attention by the onlookers.
Thanks Rick for the pointers, I look forward to progressing. Super stoked on this bike!

You will probably find 2 or 3 of them seconds with good rubber. The rest will be seat time as you say. Its quite tricky to dial into the speed difference. I struggled on my 300 for a while. I still need to man up on twisting the throttle harder. Are you planning on any Tri series rounds?
I drove down to Taupo for the day for a testing and open day the track had put on. Solid day! I'm definitely coming back for a few more of these. $125, a pit garage, and a sausage sizzle for lunch. Plus, open track all day on track one to do any many as your body/bike can handle. I really like the taupo track too so a massive plus for me.
Tiny bike, big garage
The day went very well, I'm stoked. The bike felt great on the new tires once I got some heat into them and the sun came out. I put a smaller sprocket on the rear to face the massive full track straight and got 189km/hr on my GPS lap timer. I'm pretty confident with more corner speed on the sweeper before it you'd stack another 5ks on that quite easily.
There was about 12 of us there, quite a few older riders and mostly 600s/thous. I got creamed on the straights but passed a few into and around the corners. My best time of the day was a 1.51.3s which I was a bit bummed on. The only hickup I had was the ball on the clutch cable broke at around 2pm. The lap before the break was my best time and I know I didn't quite tidy it up like I was working towards. Theoretical best time of the day was a 1.50 flat based on the GPS sectors but I'm pretty confident I'd get that under 50s if I did more laps. Like Richban said before, I need to start hammering that throttle more and reach for the man pills on some of the faster corners.
Stoked as hell. Can't wait for the next one! Will probably get a new top end into it before then though.
