I'm sure KBers can come up with a hundred other uses for something that shoots salt ...

Fly spray's like crop dusting, whereas the salt shooter's like a shotgun, more precise (comparatively)/selective and unless you're a slug, with less collateral/health/environmental damage...
Besides, I don't think the fly sprays work any more, if the roaches and flies in my household are anything to judge by!
