I raised our little guy with hand signals and he's the easiest dog I've ever trained. Such intelligence, loyalty, and obedience!
I trained him then gave him to my son and he has just been the best thing for my boy.
When my son goes away on holiday, the dog just lies in his bed and refuses to eat for a couple of days. Then at 3pm, he goes and parks himself on the sofa to watch out the window and keep an eye on whether his young master is coming home.
Met a great little dog last weekend.
'Mojo' the Tenterfield Terrier. Great little mutt. Big dog in a Jack Russell's body.
Anyone owned a Cairn Terrier?Mrs seems to have got the bug so the results inevitable i reckon, least they look like a regular dog.
Be the person your dog thinks you are...
Archie, the Cairn Terrier comes in my shop every day to say hello, owner dragged behind. He's besties with my Bull Terrier. Fantastic wee dog, great personality, he actually smiles when he comes in. Lifts his top lip to show the teeth. Proper dog too, he hates Alsatians & goes ballistic when he sees one.
Cairns & Westie's are still being bred as working earth dogs...........ratters. Great family dogs, smart & loyal. Relatively low maintenance & little heart breakers.

Och, if you get the dog as a pup & lay down the law from day one it will fine. My pup lives with cats & just wants to play, admittedly she rules the roost but the cats are happy.
A big thing to remember is that if you encourage the dog to chase vermin, it solidify s the instinct in it & you can't switch them off. I've actively deterred my dog from possum & rat control & have no problems. A friend with Terriers has encouraged them to hunt vermin. He gets woken up often with his dogs going nuts because of a possum. The only way he can get some peace is to get out of bed & shoot it.
Wee Archie holds his own on the beach with all kinds of dogs, sometimes a melee of 15 or more. A real character.
