    Speed triple chain adjustment

    Gidday all,

I have a 03 speed triple, does anyone know what the chain tension spec's should be for this model? also this is the first bike I have owned with a single sided swingarm any tricks or things to watch out for when adjusting the chain?

    Cheers

factory spec is 35-40mm for single side swing arm. tad looser than most bikes. Never had to touch mine , just ticked over 20000km , best factory chain I've had for a while.

    Thanks Cruza for the reply,

I did a little digging on the WWW,and adjusted the chain to around 35mm slack. Have to say it looks damn loose but if thats the way its
supposed to be so be it.

Triumphs do seem to have large chain slack specs. My 675 Dayt is 40mm, the GT 38mm max.
The eccentric pinch bolt is 55Nm, don't over tighten. One thing I hate is ham fisted spanner twiddlers f*cking perfectly good bikes. Not saying you will of course! Just venting my pet hate.
Do us all a favour, by bringing yourself up to speed, before pulling onto the motorway.

    No worries Manxkiwi,

I used a torque wrench on that pinch bolt, have to admit I have rechecked the slack several times since as its looks loose and somewhat wrong, guess I'll get used to it better than to tight eh,

    Cheers
