A plan so cunning...Make vehicle inspections once a year so the national fleet runs down. Then set packs of quota hungry vehicle inspectors loose to harass motorists for minor infringments. Should be a cash cow.

I've had people in tears after they've paid me to check their vehicle and I've declared it a shit heap... God knows what'll happen to some officious prick... hammer to the face I'm guessing.

But these seems like a good idea... hire some no nothing retards, badge them up, give them some power, make some police redundant, gee, what could possibly go wrong.

I know what trucking companies are like about direct safety items like braking systems... the public should be afraid is a massive understatement.

Already parking wardens give tickets for no rego and wof. While we know that parking wardens are a necessary evil. imagine giving them the power to stop traffic and inspect vehicles?? Sweet mother of god - are we not supposed to be making life better for citizens of the realm...

This idea is so awful I suspect it was created by the MTA to create opposition to wof reforms...

It is going to be 1 hell of an exercise "IF" it goes ahead ( cant see it tho )

Holiday Season : Family of 5 going away, car is packed full of gear, boat on the back, 2 of the 3 kids are under 5 .... got the dog in the back .... " Oh look at that the cops are doing a check point to make ^"revenue" sure we are safe, ok kids out of the car stand on the side of the road & hold the dog, just make sure that you dont get hit by another car tho"

Imagine this; mum goes to supermarket, comes out with family groceries to find the car clamped because one of these "private cops" probably a VTNZ off shoot didn't like the look of the windscreen wipers on such a fine day. No confrontation but one real pissed off family with fuck all come back

Yup ... that was my thought exactly - some civilian on the side of the road trying to stop traffic? Will I stop for them? Hell no ... could be anything ...

Should civilians be given the power to stop people on the side of the road??? Hell no ...
