I tried this and it worked really well. Of course I left my visor on the helmet, in the upward position with all the vents open. Very wet cloth, overnight. Took two days in the hot water cupboard to try out afterwards
I was out shopping for new helmets today and Superior Motorcycles offered to service my existing helmet (Shoei) so it's in good shape until I figure out what to buy.
Told me off for storing my gloves in my helmet as well.
+1 for Pledge, really works to clean the visor and regular application keeps water off.

Your beliefs don't make you a better person, your behaviour does.
Exactly. That's the method BIKE magazine recommended, no need for magic potions.
Came across an interesting comment by Pedrosa, he said he knew it was about to rain because suddenly a lot of insects hit his visor.
Apparently the drop in atmospheric pressure makes birds and insects fly lower. GP riders (and us) shouldn't be paying much attention to what the birds are doing, but the insects can make their presence apparent.
There are other reasons for mass insect attack, but that's one to file away.
