what made me spit the other night, driving thru town - a cop car. with no headlights on. 10pm a night, so quite dark. Dashboard and tail lights lit, but nothing on the front of the car. And I followed it, and over-took and had them follow me for about 5 mins, and no change. A fukin cop car with no headlights. Had that been anyone else, they'd be ordered to the nearest gas station to fix it or park up and walk home.. I would have taken the rego, but I couldn't see the front one, and the back one had had a sticker over the last 3 letters on the plate, then ripped off, leaving that white paper crap across it, so you couldn't see it anyway!!!!!!! wtf... But what can you do? Pull them over and bollock them?

I'd love to see that. Signal them over and point it out - just be helpful... see how they get back to base. Can't drive it in that condition now could you

They were driving along Quay St. 2 blocks away is the downtown gargre. Why couldn't they have stopped there and asked them to fix the lights up? Shit like this just winds me up. Bit like the time I saw a cop reverse up the hard shoulder on the motorway, just to go up the sliproad he missed..

I've got nothing against cops, but for fuksake - it's one law/rule for all, and fukin do a job of enforcing it themselves.. what happened to 'lead by example'?

Pull them over all the time and give them a 'compliance' ticket to get it fixed ASAP (normally 7 days) and they don't have to pay for the ticket.

Use to just warn them but three weeks later you would see the same car/driver with the same headlight not working,

Now with a ticket putting pressure on them they DO fix it.

FFS - how hard/expensive is it to get a new bulb? F'tards like this shouldn't be on the road. This is all just indicative of how many people don't take driving a vehicle seriously, and have little regard for their safety or that of others. I'd imagine too, that many of the vehicles that have a blown bulb have other defects too, like the one behind the wheel...

Yeah tell me about it - My Dad and I were trundling along in Avondale last Summer - a blue Commodore pulls out and passes us (we're doing the limit...)...

From my KB training I spot it's a mufti doing a quick blat to head back into the station. No lights or siren etc.

I vowed there ad then I'd opnt it out next time it happens... hence my interest in your situation
