Kawasaki ZZR oil leak

hey peeps....my beloved Kawasaki ZZR 250 has decided it wanted to crack the oil window (not sure if it was a stone shot) this morning, come the ride home it turned into a gush...almost 2 liters to go 37k home. Anyway...does anyone know if the oil window can be popped out and changed or do I have to try and source the whole crank case?

you're lucky it didn't throw you off your bike or run your crank dry, wonder if any other people hit your fucking oil today and crashed as a result?

only if they are right down on the side of the road almost in the gutter...not a dick who would ride it in the middle of the road like the prick in a car the other day pissing fuel everywhere

youll need to take the clutch cover off and push old one out and then push new one in

cheers gammaguy...found another site (that doesn't have snide comments) that said it can be done externally but recommends it be done as you said.Doesn't sound too hard to do

and the only way they ever get a hole in is if someone puts one there.

very occasionally they crack from ageing but not very often

about an hour ...and I read the bottle of oil properly..was a liter bottle...bloody Z charged me for a 2 liter ggrr

But anyway...$27 for a new one from Norjo and they said I can just pop the old one out with a screwdriver and push the new one in as they are not in a high pressure place

AND...spoke to the guy I bought it off and the owner before him dropped it on the right side,so could have cracked then and I just made it worse..may have knocked it with my boot or a bit of road ammunition

ok, it may look straight forward but unless you have the skill to replace this properly i'd suggest you get someone with skills to do so. if you cock it up you may break it, bad luck, if you dont get it in right it may pop out when you don't know and either tip you over or damage your engine. it's not a hard job but does require a careful knowledgable hand
