I can't even see how you read that into it. I thought he looked at all the options then picked one, OK it was Rossi, but he had considered all four likely contenders.
Sofa Racer doesn't take things too seriously, after that post he wrote,

OK, yeah, he did hold up Rossi as the main one to look at and judge everyone against, but I definitely viewed the article as a fun read. I think he did a great job of injecting a little bit of humor that one does not normally see in Road racing blogs. Good on him
Oh, yeah, and I agree with pretty much everything he says...................................its gonna be fun watching Jorge/Dani and Rossi/Marc battles with regular guest appearances from Cal, Stefan and Alvaro.(And hopefully some Ducati's too.)
Disclaimer: I don't actually know what I'm talking about and everything I say should be taken as words of wisdom from a armchair general/mechanic/engineer/racer.
Sadly I seem to lack the courage of my convictions.
The head says Lorenzo will win the title, I think he has the wood on Pedrosa.
OK, the latter won more GPs last year than he managed in any other year but I believe in part that was only due to the increasing maturity of Lorenzo who wasn’t going to risk everything on a dice when all he had to do was follow the dwarf around to win the title. If Stoner hadn’t retired Pedrosa wouldn’t even be on a Repsol bike this season.
Where Rossi will fit in to the scheme of things is anybody’s guess at this stage. In the past he has performed feats no other rider has achieved previously. Question is, can he surprise and amaze one more time as retirement beckons?
Marquez is another question mark. He is supposed to take an intelligent approach to his racing. He reportedly writes notes in the pits which is apparently considered unusual behaviour for a rider.
So the first race or two may not be a true indication of what is to follow as Rossi and Marquez play catch up.
Or not?
Whatever, here’s hoping that someone can give George a serious run for his money.

Probably not this year. I want to retire and I want to do it sooner rather than later - preferably in a couple of months .
Once the dust has settled though who knows?
I recently read a comment to the effect that Pedrosa was #1 Honda rider for years, on a bike that was designed around him, and while he was winning his couple of races a year, two of his team mates actually won the championship. As Sofa Racer says, if he doesn't do something special this year events may pass him by.

After his best year just gone you'd think he was a big chance, just need all the ducks in row ?
I have been lucky in that I retired at 56 and have had 7 years of it already. I still really enjoy my sojourns to Europe, do it while you can.
Worst part for me are the long 12 hour hauls (two of them to Rome). Meet some great people though.
