Talking So, we are on the move

Well was feed up with my job here in Auckland, sick of treading water in life and still felling like we were drowning, (shit I haven't been able to registrar the bike for the last 12 months because of the cost) so applied for a few jobs around the place and finally managed to land one with the Waipa District Council

So the Mrs, the little Mr, dog one, and dog two, and finally me, are on the move out of Auckland and to the lovely setting of Cambridge!!!!!!!!!

So just some minor things to sort, like sell the house here in Auckland, find somewhere to live in Cambridge, do the whole move thing ready to start in January. In between there is that Xmas thing, need to finish the bucket sidecar in the shed (priorities right), and, oh, yea, there is the wedding in February to keep on track.

So anyone know any good moving/storage companies that will make this move easier (we did it ourselves 12 months ago and not sure we want to do that again, $2k relocation contribution doesn't hurt)?

Oh, and if you have got a house for sale or rent? Or want to buy one in Mt Roskill? Just let me know

For the record Qkkid was in my bed, not the other way round

Cambridge is a nice place to live. Get a small boat and have a ball on Karapiro! Close to all manner of things to do and places to see, far enough out of Hamilton to feel "country". Great place for kids, too.

Grew up in Morrinsville so know the area well, and spent more time on the lake as a kid with the family than anywhere else. Looking forward to being able to get back to that sort of lifestyle.

Took a bit of effort Usarka, but I still think you have to be a little lucky. But if you put the work in get the results. Well I sure as hell hope I will be anyway.

We lived in Morrinsville from '90-'99 and found it ideally situated for getting around. I had an old 14.6' Hartley with an ancient Johnson 33hp on it. Used to play on Karapiro with a mate and his Buccanner 605. Great times! Been in Orewa since.

One of the best things I have ever done, is leaving Auckland. We moved away over 20 years ago. I still like going back for a holiday, but could never live there again. Good luck with your move, many happy memories from cambridge when in my teens, I used to visit a young lady there when doing my Apiculture studys in tauranga.

Woohoo, congrats on the new horizons fella.

Sorry, don't know of any moving companies, as it's always been a DIY thing with us ( not that I wanted it to be ).

Good luck with it all though.

Great stuff Carl, Cambridge is a cool wee town, two other KBers have recently moved there which has lowered the standard a tad but, it'll crawl back..

I lived at Karapiro for two years in the mid-90s and loved it. Cambridge is real nice. Ahhh fond memories of those evening rides during the summer around the Waikato district...

We moved recently, used AOne movers (They're in the area that borders three kings/Mt Roskill.) They also stored our gear for a few weeks before we could move in. Great people - Vanessa at Aone handled it all.

As far as movers go, The Office Relocation Company do houseloads as well as commercial.

I hooked another KBer up and they were very happy with them.

If you do use them, can you do me a favour say Deano put you on to them? Actually if you ask for Rob and mention my name, he might even sweeten the deal for you.

While they are a sponsor of mine, I have only heard good things about their work.

And the fortnightly twilight rides that Hamilton M/C centre and Ham Honda do, and the monthly RAT rides. It would be nice not to be the only Speedy all the time..

What the only speedy at a RAT ride. Seems odd. Hell just in our family we have 3 of the things, one each of the last 3 models.
