    all this talk of plebery...

...and we'll never get a KB Space Engineers server, which is a pity cos I would fly the shit out of a spaceship into axkzles space-caravan.

Or amybe you guys would be more interested in Stomping Land, it's about plebs at war, and they can ride dinsosaurs and shit.

Part of my training involved going to an engineer firm where they cut steal and used a machine to prefab the lot - it used punched tape - this was back in the early 80's.

My first formal programming language was cobol and we used screen design charts to plot co-ords - a bit like battleship. And we could only compile one at a time, so in the team we had to put our hand up to say "Compiling!"

Did the same thing on my old Commodore Vic 20. Had a massive 3.5K of RAM to play with back then and there was some kind of program that made the tape drive achieve faster load times than the disk! Paid $150 for a 16K RAM extension, how times have changed!

Now that's old skol. Fond memories of playing an Apache simulator on that thing. And Elite on the BBC Acorn Electron - vector graphics all the way.

My fav old school game was http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paradroid on the Commodore 64 , Impossible Mission, Winter & Summer games also worth a mention, but it was Attack of the Mutant Camels that sold me on the 64!

Yeah, at 0.5 frames per second, in wire frame.

crysis 2, sniper elite and some generic shoot-arab game (medal of honour? something with M i think)

okay, yay, shadows look cool and water has reflections, **oo shiney shit* - big fucking deal these games manage to bore the fuck out of me still.

health, is my mainest gripe. crysis at least has some redemption in that it doesn't purport to be entirely "real", (despite "real" ballistics - ie crap shooting). the bit that gets me, is that you get shot a bit, bloodscreen, but then you get better.

haven't played crysis2 enough to give a fuck, and doubt i would. the first one was something noo and exciting (ish), the second.... meh.
infact off of these games get rated "meh"

sniper elite - i'm assuming this is from the same guys that did sniper for win98 (mmmmm, 16 bit color) - has bullet cam, some pretty gory though poorly drawn bone breakey, organ-explodey, tumbling bullet stuff which is cool.
the frequency it goes to bullet cam can thankfully be turned down, it gets tedious.

very mono directional, you can't shoot out lights, can't climb all over things and despite being a "sniper" you end up CQ frequently enough (unless you crawl through the whole game, which would be tedious as fuck.)
the bullet ballistics is cool, the guns (and certainly apparent scopes) are wrong, and though it has the main sniper rifles of the period (fuckall of em), the SMGs are highly limited, and fkn useless (which you'd expect in a game called sniper, but still disappointing).
i'd also *relly* like to have seen some iron sights in different flavours.

the distances are arse, i know computer can't render for a long long way, but the longest shot i've had's about 250 meters, which i can do IRL standing, with no scope. and no pants. again, also wrong for the guns /calibres and shots in dem dar days were frequently taken to 800m, ocasionally more, but certainly 2-400 was no challenge.

my other piss-and moan about new games - it's all one player. you can't save five different save games or have more than one profile (crysis can, in this instance i mean: sniper elite, Mxx, and tomb raider,)

so, all in all. thoroughly disappointed by this decades' offering. better luck next one.

Spintires gets this month's oddly addicting game title.

Play as a russian logger on smallish maps where you have to unlock garages, vehicles, and map cloaks to deliver logs to sawmills. However, the game engine incorporates deformable terrain and it is fairly easy to get bogged down and stuck if you don't pick good lines and speed. Also go winching, fuel use, vehicle damage, water crossings/damage, and a crane to pick up an load logs if you flip the trucks.

Free tech demo showing the terrain thingo available for download somewhere.

I play this "Be Gone" every now and then when procrastinating from studies:

    http://www.nplay.com/BeGone/

It's a flash first person multiplayer shooter. Pretty much = CounterStrike with lesser quality graphics, but they're still pretty good for a browser flash game that doesn't that takes 10 seconds to load up.

Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion
Spintires (not on sale but meh)
    Goat Simulator

Still got Take On: Mars and Stomping Land on the wishlist in case they go on sale.

Star Citizen Arena Commander is currently well above any other for data allowance killing, did 12gig on that just last month and don't think they have very good update packing efficiency yet...
New continent out for Planetside 2 today as well, so there goes some more data, both in downloading and subsequent clicking on heads.
