Waters are a bit muddier now with SLI (if one card handles it well, two will handle it better!), and getting even muddier with dual-GPU cards. Screen size is also a big factor too...

On the subject of GPU, that cuda stuff is pretty neat, haven't done any development with it yet, but the examples look pretty neat. Guess 3 TeraFlops will do that though

Yes, I did notice that the water is more 'playable' on the slower system. Doesn't look as pretty, but then water isn't really a strong point in this game (seen the 1mm thick water coming off the waterfalls? ) I don't expect to upgrade again till my 4k TV arrives.

Have only used CUDA for rendering CGI, but seems to work ok.

Damn good for a SoC, might not rival desktop performance for while though

I assume so... the current one is. Not that it matters, it's not good for fuck all, but all the high end gear has it these days so that was just the way it was.

Anyone know the names of the servers that PlanetSide 2 connects to?

Does anyone else find that the four wheeled vehicles in Far Cry 3 are hard to control?

I'm usually pretty good at racing and driving games but all the cars and trucks just seem super twitchy and oversteer like crazy, I'm always crashing unless I drive ridiculously slowly.

Supply drops a bit difficult then? I thought the vehicle control could have been a bit better, but mainly in how it handled terrain changes, steering on the flat was fine.

The vehicles should do better skids in FC3.

Haven't tried any supply drops missions yet. I only got the game yesterday, maybe I just need to get used to it. Now that I think about it, the changes they made to the driving mechanics in GTA 4 made it difficult to get used to at first.

Anyone know what the deal is with installing it? I signed up and downloaded the 20meg setup thing, but it won't connect to whatever else it needs too...

buy games and technology 3-5 years behind the times. that way it's cheap as shit and you still get the "new game" experience/thrill...

hell. i gave up counterstrike only a couple of years ago., as mentioned earlier, still play DH2005. i get my jazz jackrabbit on now and then. and i want to find my colonisation floppys...

have mate who spends a large amount of money on his PC (like... 8-10 grand, he's sitting on some insane number of terrabytes, has every game steam does, and spends enitrely far too long sitting in front of it) and he rides commutes on a fucking FZR, and can't shoot, IRL, for shit.
    so what teh point?

Managed to download it through steam, but now I just get the same message when I try and run it. Are the NZ servers down? Is that why pzkpfw was asking about them?

That sounds really strange, I downloaded it off Steam with no issues, and it runs fine. There has just been a large patch released, you'll need that to play of course. And the NZ/AU server is Briggs. But you can choose to play on any of the international servers as well, you won't be limited by your physical location (but your ping might)
