ZZR250 is okay for a learner, so are GPZ/X. GS500F are good
She could get an RF400, also not bad
A decent ZZR400 (N model, 1993 onward are the bestest, K models aren't too shabby though) would be good, but a bit heavy for a leaner (195kg dry)
The ZZR/GPX are far better value than the newer shitheap EX250 as they perform just as well (the GPX is actually better) and the "extra running costs of the older bike" don't justify buying newer.

That is, essentially, a "short list" of the range of chioces she has based on her ridiculous criteria. That's not an example of the best of everything or even good choices, just the range of bikes she has to choose from. You guys can take it from there.
She is doing herself a disservice by writing off all hondas based on some absurd assumption. Particularly since theres a smattering of Hornets going for really good pricing at the moment, and they would be perfect for what she wants.
My pick of the lot would be a GS500 if she has the dosh to spare.
You're right! Hence the 2 pipes!
and i thought no one was more pedantic than me...
Though - true story. Guy here at work bought Honda GB250 jap import - small engined version of the lovely GB400/500. Fancies himself as knowing about cars and bikes, though to be fair got it mostly for son. Insisted it was a twin. Rather stroppy when I insisted a single...scoff scoff he goes. Eventually said he would prove it so bought it in. It is a single. Blush whoops...
Stuff everything...I've always got my bike.
Tell her to get a cheap single cylinder and be glad for your damned advice. She aint gonna live long if she doesn't listen to reason. I'd leave it at that.
i really don't know how women actually chose a bike. Surely they just don't go out and buy a red one?
The only way she will find a bike she truly likes is for her to try before she buys.
Get her to look through as many bike magazines as possible and get her to make a list of the one's she likes, then head off to the bike shop and test ride until she finds the best fit for her. Sometimes the bike shop guys can advise her of things she hasn't thought of as well.
No-one can tell her what she will or wont like - she's a female remember....and it's totally a personal thing.
Either that or give her your bike then get a new one yourself - solved.
Be safe - be seen - be happy
Chic 'n' Charge
Suzuki Gsx250 2000+ im riding a 02 one atm good learner bike pulls well
only issue I have is I am a stick 70kg and I get blown around a fair bit in the wind
should be able to pick a dropped one up for around $1800 (crack in fearing/dent in tank) or a mint one for 3.5k
a dropped bike would be ok for a learner as I bet she will drop it at least once and then its not as heart breaking as dropping an immactulate bike
I really like my ZZR400. Sure it's a bit heavy but it handles really well. It was cheap and hasn't cost me more than a new reg/rectifier plus cush drive, chain and sprockets and the usual tyres, oil etc.
Also I'm not here for part of the year so I don't care if it sits in the garage for that time. It has never let me down nor did my other one for that matter.
