Just removed the swing arm and the bearings are seized up and covered in blue paint. The frame is black so god knows how long they've been in there.

oh yea? same people who owned ur bike must have owned my bike too.. Who ever painted the frame last decided to not remove anything.. so shocks have white overspray, all the loom, the wheels and tyres, springs.. reservoirs.. everthing has a dusting of white lol.

I should prob take the 2 swingarms off and check they are moving as free as they should (steering wasn't aye scriv!)

I'd recommend replacing parts in those area's not just checking. Then there is no doubt about them and they can be ruled out as potential trouble makers.

Kai, you've got an alright bike there. Just totally strip it down. Replace the worn bits (as you've already started to), re-visit the brake bias, master cylinders, shocks, and replace the complete wiring system. All of that is fuck all money. If it were me, I'd sandblast the bitch, and paint it all nice again. You'll see any nasty shit straight away, and you can take some action. You'll also get to know your machine better. And you can remove stuff that isn't being used. You can also replace the parts with COMMON items, not 4mm, 5mm, 6mm, 8mm bolts in all places - standardise the fucken thing!

Just to let you know. If that bike was brought up to scratch like in its heyday, it too would be doing 1:43's around Ruapuna. You'd be as fast as anyone down south on it.
