How does a hot engine know it's going fast down a straight or around sweeping corners???

I know I'm no mechanic, but.........????
It's not rocket science...you have several easy variables. Cam positioning is the main one but pipe lengths and dia plus intake lengths and carb size come into play too.

Kick will remember a day at Levels where the mad pom had a ride on Colin's ZZR1100 and got off it fizzing about how easy it was to ride compared to the one in his bike which didn't come on till about 8 grand.

Historically NI engine builders have always gone for max power - having Puke and Manfield as the main circuits did that.
Down here midrange rules on Ruapuna and Levels. Teretonga is an anomaly in the SI...

Even our cam grinders differ - In my experience the NI companies will if anything overcam whereas Kelford have always preferred to slightly undercam.

Up here, Manfield is the only track that max power is optimal in my opinion. Yes, Pukie has a huge straight but it's a fast track, not a drag strip track. A controlable bike over the hill will smash a peaky bike, and that sets you up for the part of the track where the most gains can be made. One need only look at the times for a 600 compared to a 1000, which are not a lot different in percentage to SI tracks.

I am told that Robbie Bugden doesn't use the over rev available from after market ecu on his superbike. That's second or third hand info and a few years old, but having had a squirt on a very wanked thou I would hazard it's true. A positive side effect of this, is that with the motor spinning slower on a big block solo, it makes for faster direction changes. Due to lessened gyroscopic effect, (I don't think that's the right terminology for what I want to convey...could be though).

Absolutely they will cook if you use small thin bike ones! Try stopping your RF if it was double the weight! Lap after lap..... It'll fry!

I can't see from that pic, but is that rotor vented? I'll have a measure up of mine and let you know what I have - it obviously works a friggin treat - cause no fucker out brakes us...... Not even containers.....

Dont the MNZ rules say sidecars must run a cast disc anyway? Or do I just dream commonsense?

Interesting talking to a brake specialsit who said for the weight and speeds we do we'd easily get away with unvented discs

The answer to both of those is NO

27.6.3a Only ferrous brakes disc’s are allowed.
"If you can make black marks on a straight from the time you turn out of a corner until the braking point of the next turn, then you have enough power."
