I would have to agree with Soup on this one, it kinda sounds like Dorna is trying to emancipate WSBK so that it isn't it as much competition for MotoGP. But then again, I would like to see a WSBK where the machines raced are some resemblance to what you could buy off the showroom floor. Don't know what they hell they are going to use for this 250 racing though, Ninja's and Hyoshits? Surely they wouldn't go and use the Moto3 type machines for that, cause that would be a double up of prototype 250 racing, and not production 250.

So, I'm very interested to see the rules for the Dorna's new 250 proddie class for WSBK. It would be funny as hell if they said up to 4 cylinder 250cc. You would see every team out there running 20 year old MC22's in circles around the 250 twins 'sportbikes' that are porduced today.

Obviously they won't do that, and the rules will probably stipulate singles or twins, but still. And what about people taking a 250 MX bike, modding the suspension, and throwing it out on track with fairings? Would they run circles around a Ninja 250, Hyoshit, or Honda 250? I'm sure that some of you that have expierance in 250 proddie right now would have an opinion on that?

Some interesting articles if you go to the main site
On a Motorcycle you're penetrating distance, right along with the machine!! In a car you're just a spectator, the windshields like a TV!!

'Life's Journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out! Shouting, ' Holy sh!t... What a Ride!! '

Have I missed something. Are Haslam, Guintoli and Sykes not riding WSBK in 2013?
It's OK to disagree with me. I can't force you to be right.

Nope, you haven't missed anything, just miss-understood the article I think. They are still racing in WSBK 2013, the article was just presenting an opinion on the seeming cliff face that wsbk is looking at right now. With such a small grid this year, and the big changes that are rumored to be coming from Dorna, the fear mongers are out beating the bushes about how it will all end in a few years. Personally, I'm not too worried about wsbk going down the drain, not when they have great racing like last year, and MotoGP has a freakin' boring procession. Now if we could just get a MotoGP.com subscription for WSBK so that I could actually watch the races..................

Only crash damage would be excluded from the quarter of a million per season, that being a cost which is outside the control of the factories."

So what exactly would be included in the 'full support to complete an entire season'? Does that include all 30 some engines that some teams use? And how exactly are they going to check that the teams only pay the 250k? What happens when a manufacture makes 6 packages, 4 speced at 250k for the privateer teams and 2 speced for the factory team (at whatever cost, but sold to the 'team' for 250k)?

From my point of view Price Caps are very hard to enforce, and rules not enforced are more useless than the rule not existing.

It does read that they are dumbing it down somewhat... Call it World Superstock soon...

I hope all these changes are for the benefit of the WSBK Championship as it would be ultra disappointing to see its demise!

Is Dorna just another evil corporate monster???

And I wonder if anyone will run the Ducati 1098R this year? I know that they dropped the 6kg weight penalty for the 1199, but does that apply to all the 1200cc twins?

"...New Zealanders, for all their faults, have virtues that are precious: an unwillingness to be intimidated by the new, the formidable, or class systems; trust in situations where there would otherwise be none; compassion for the underdog; a sense of responsibility for people in difficulty; not undertaking to do something without seeing it through - "

Yeah, but thank goodness we have a respectable organization leading WSBK though this difficult time and we can be confident that they (Dorna) will do everything in their power to keep WSBK as a true world class series and maintain the interest of its giant fanbase with quality racing and spectacle......................................... .........oh wait.
