    Reverse Bucket

    Hi y'all

I've recently acquired a semi road legal ex bucket racer AX100. I am intending to restore it to it's former (albeit not overwhelmimgly great) glory and get it back on the road while still modifying for a reasonable bit torque/power on a small budget.
I have no idea what it looks like on the inside but it's got sweet fuck all power at the moment and only gets up to 70 at full noise

    Specs:
    Engine - unknown/underpowered
    Transmission - 4 speed (..crap)
Exhaust - gutted, loud as fuck and bits rattling around inside
    Lights - nil
    Indicators - unattached
Electrics - minimal but spare full loom
    Tyres - sweet
    Body - ok
    Suspension - squishy

Items to acquire: lights, mirrors, brake light switch, ignition, speedo cluster and some sweet porting and exhaust making skills

Advise/opinions/criticisms (other than the fact that it's an AX100) appreciated

    I hope you didn't pay a lot.

    Are the plates still live?

Personally find one that is registered in any condition and use the parts from the one you have and the other bike to make one really good bike.

All I can see is slot of money being spent and at the end of it all still having a AX100 that used to be a bucket and will be worth bugger all.

Hey you said you wanted honest. That us my honest opinion.

For the record Qkkid was in my bed, not the other way round

PM Skunk on this site (look at recent threads for Kaitoke).

He has done a couple of these, there's a small chance he might not have thrown it all away.

Pumba, I paid 400 and basically got it for free, it came with new unused helmet and jacket worth over 500 and now a stock exhaust on its way for free.
The idea was that i can fuck around with learning to modify the engine and not worry so much about if I somehow manage to destroy it. And yeah the rego is on hold.

Also, I don't recall saying "honest"

    Thanks Dave, will do.

Stripped and cleaned to carb today, was a little gunked up but not too bad, hoping the stock exhaust will raise the power a bit untill I can make a tuned one.

90 just maybe, with a light person on it. In reality its probabaly not that far off. I.e its not completely rooted.... OH wait it is because its an AX100.

Its not worth your time mate! But if it is i have a couple of barrels and heads and a brand new piston kit, for not much $.

Yeah quallman I'm a bit heavier so thats why I want to modify for a bit of extra torque. I'm not really worried that it's a shitty bike to start with, it's what I've got and I wanna have a play.

Actually, I'm thinking that if I'm gonna have a bit of a tutoo with it I may as well make it look cool and cafe racer it a bit.. clipons, circle headlight, shorten the seat to start with, maybe put a bit more angle to the forks and lower the rear..

How much were you thinking for the piston kit and a barrel?, or even the whole lot? Also you don't haen to have any of the parts listed above?

50$ I'm in christchurch for first round of nationals. I can bring it down then if you want it. I think the barrels are okay. I'll just throw you all my ax bits. Have a bottom end which was okay, but has been sitting open. Should be able to clean it up and use it.
