Sounds ridiculous, cuz it is. But growing up, my dad took our family on camping trips all over the states. It was always on a particular 76 goldwing gl1000, with sidecar. The guy is a bit of a genius with bikes and mechanics, so he did a tremendous amount of work on the bike and sidecar. Made a back seat in it, and widened the front seat. So my younger brother would sit in the back, and my older brother and I would sit in the front seat. The goldwing had a supercharger he added. And a radical faring. Naturally the bike had a pretty unique sound. And gave me a lot of great memories growing up traveling on this thing with my family.
cool i was actually surprised how well the chassis design is looks ahaed of its time esp the monoshock. in 78.

my wife wont go on my vfr but when where in the local honda dealship she said i like that bike poined at a gl 1800 only 44 grand hehe , because it had the back rest on the pillion , but rekon a side car for are son whould make for good fmaily machine.

how many miles or ks do you rekon the old girl done ?

Look at the pictures at the start of his thread, it was a dual shock setup. He's changed it to monoshock.

Im still working out in my head how to do the seat. Pretty much because of what you talked about. It will be a challenge. I know how to do it structurally, but i wouldnt like the way it looks when finished. that part is going to have to wait until i can get a few more essential things planned.

I bought it with roughly 55,000 miles on it. I've personally only put 3 or 4,000 since i got it. The new motor has around 30,000 miles.

Very cool be sure to post it up. Id like to see that.

Picked up a split tank from an old harley today. Get it close to fitted, gotta make some brackets yet, and rethink a couple of electronics. But heres how it will sit. I have a center piece from the faux tank that will weld on top joining the 2 pieces. Will look really smooth, and the speedo will be inside the center piece so it looks like its in the tank.
