North Island Series. All the dates and info

This is a Miniature Road Race Series, no plans for Motards but Motards are welcome at Taumarunui.

    Round One
    Auckland, Mt Wellington,
Saturday only 24th November (2hr race on Sunday)

    Round Two
    Tokoroa, Tokoroa Kart Track,
    15th-16th December

    Round Three
    Taumarunui, Taumarunui Kart Track,
    5th-6th Jan 2013

    Round Four
    Manfeild Back Track,
Saturday only 16th February (VMCC Track Day on the Sunday).

    Round Five
Te Puke, Te Puke Kart Track
    9th-10th March

    Round Six
    Hastings, Roys Hill Kart Track
    Easter Weekend Sat-Sun (30-31st March)

Entry Fees for Rounds 2,3,5,6 $60 for both days (the extra $20 allows for use of AMCC timing gear)

Entry Fee Round 1 $30 entry and $20 Transponder Hire

Entry fee Round 4, probably $60 give or take...

16 bikes only per class, qualifying at each event. (this may mean A, B and C grades)

Bikes on Track from 12 noon Saturday at 2 day events

Qualifying on Saturday afternoon at 2 day events
(anyone wanting to qualify on Sunday morning please apply to do so before race weekend)

Noise will be a major point of interest. Don't ask what it should be, just be very fearful yours is quiet enough.
Auckland might be the only chance to get away with minor issues. (it's not my track so it's up to the AMCC Bucket Officials on the day)
The best I would suggest is this..... if you can run your bike up and down a residential street without causing to much public trauma or aggravation you're probably about where you need to be. (on a Sunday morning at 11:15am subject to reasonable local conditions and excluding areas prone to church services, riots, gunship weapons discharge, days of national mourning etc)

Rounds 1 and 4 are not run by me and therefore may be completely different to what I have been saying

Hope I have not made any major cock ups..

If anyone wants to print out a copy of this year's flyer, flick me a pm with your email addy. It is 2mb and designed to print on a3.
I'll try to have more copies printed out for this weekend, especially for the out of towners.

Oh, and thanks so much for organising all this, tis a fun series and great to get to know some others that we wouldn't otherwise meet.

Hope Paula is ready for the race next weekend, it is going to be a hoot and it has been awesome seeing more females coming out to play with us.

Mainfeild Round 4 will be $60. We can break even with 25 entries. No timing at this round (no timing loop in the back circuit).

No one really needs timing. Look forward to this meet, just will need to arrange my life/ babysitters etc to make it. There is the will to though.
Don't you look at my accountant.

best thing about timing is how much easier it makes it for whomever is lap scoring.

oh sure, if there was no cost impact it would be a no-brainer. But as long as the top 3 at least are accurately placed & the rest close enough its all about good fun racing. Don't want people turning away for extra cost that isn't essential.

Ha, you need to "get out more".... for those that travel they want to be given the correct points as that can make a difference to the series. Lap scoring is a BITCH and in the NI series we almost always have full grids, if you'd ever been a lap scorer at one of these events you get minimal thanks and a huge amount of complaints.....

I used to be the most travelled Bucketeer, that has gone a bit local & will stay that way till perhaps my younguns get keen & want to come. Actually I have been known in the past to donate my winnings at Street races where there was prize money to go to the lap scorers as I agree it is a hard job & not well thanked. That was a bit back in the day when there were more of those events & I had a better chance of winning stuff than now.

    Funnyish story.

On the way back down from Auckland last weekend we thought we would check out the Tokoroa track and show the palmy boys to get them excited. As we were milling about we got talking to a very nice lady one of the officials. I mentioned we were coming up for racing soon and she said oh great. Then preceded to talk about so guy that blew up his engine and left oil on the track. Que embarrassed look by me and a laugh from Brent. She twigged on to that and I owned up. She pointed me out to I think her daughter that was going to win 500 bucks if not for a little shower of rain and some oil at the end of the straight. 4 Karts of the end of the track straight away. She then took a photo of me to post on the notice board. For people to through darts at I suppose.

She did mention that if it were to happen again to not ever use cement but to use oil soak. What ever that is. She asked me to pass it on so I have.

She was very good about the whole thing and made light of it but i still feel a bit bad that it causes them issues.
