    Motorists face tolls....

I see Auck & Waikato area could have some tolls. What do you guys think to this? Doesn't some of the revenue collected from rego and fuel pay for this already (roads)? Do all vehicles pay the full price? Cheaper for bikes? Hopefully this won't happen here!

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believed that bikes are allowed through for no charge.

That's a huge loss of revenue - will someone close that door please?

One piece of info that slipped through in all the debates that have been going on around increased taxes for roading, tolling etc was a statement from one of the roading companies. The statement was to the effect that even if the Government poured billions in cash into roads right now, nothing is going to happen any faster because the roading company can't find enough workers. Quick, someone tell Don/Helen/Wodney work for the dole, yehah!!

Is that what happened on the bridge to the Mount? I believe the toll is back on again, true? (pay for another bridge?)

Im still pissed off about the govt promise to waive the 5c fuel tax if petrol continued to rise. What happened when fuel started to rise? Oh, sorry, cant change it now.

And then they added that little line "adjusts with inflation every year".
News companies tried not to announce that clause too loudly, so wonder how many people noticed it.
This way the government won't have to announce increases when they want it, it just happens on the 1st of whatever month it was every year.

Seem to recall Brash mentioning this recently. Only he called it 'user' pay. This was in line with roading construction where the private sector can 'contribute' to our roading infrastructure.

Tolls for Aucklanders sounds good to me. Then maybe the rest of us can get back all of that petrol and other tax we use to subside those people who choose to live where the population is the most dense...

    Now now, don’t be nasty!
    Don’t care, on a bike so I won’t pay.
If I have to pay, I still won’t pay.
If I get in trouble I still won't pay and I'll remove my rego plate!
If I get in even more trouble I'll get the biggest 4X4 I can get my hands on and drive at 20 kph, as I'm paying for the road its mine, therefor I'll do what I want with it!
I'll let bikes past tho, I'm not a total basted.

Nope, no toll here.. I have to use that bridge every day to get to work - I will swim before I pay $2 every day just to use a bridge!

*strokes his bike frame* Soon we will be togeather again my dear, avoiding tolls like there is no tomorrow!

Now I understand there is a little bit of Auckland envy in this country, but resorting to calling us dense !
    .....is the answer
