Make sure you have ALL the saftey gear on then, especially the eyes and legs and feet. I cut through my leg just above the knee when I was seventeen, all the way to the bone, and it fucken hurt. Make sure your saw stays sharp too, most accidents happen when things get blunt and you try putting more weight on the saw to compensate, which can put you off balance . Good luck.

Think about hiring out a positrac or similar, easy to use and heaps of different working heads to choose from, they are great fun with a scrub mulching head on them.
For a man is a slave to whatever has mastered him. Keep an open mind, just dont let your brains fall out.

If I get chaps does that mean I have to get a Harley too?

I've had a couple of mates who use chainsaws almost daily take me through the do's & dont's. So far so good. I'm not felling big trees.
Keep whistling "I'm a lumberjack and I'm ok.." for some reason, though..
