I would threaten them with something
To every man upon this earth
    Death cometh sooner or late
And how can a man die better
    Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his Gods

Ask for the name of the person and contact details at the internet providers place of work. Have a quick tally up around the office at how much this could be.... Tell the internet provider what you were told by your company and see what happens.

Suggest to your bank that you are seriously unhappy about this and considering moving your account.. see what happens...

I feel for you. This is not fair but it has happened here a couple of times. Quickly learnt to move any AP's to the day after payday but my company usually makes good any loss people suffered! (they are good like that)..

Sorry - people really don't care much these days... They should have taken responsibility for it but it will probably ping their bonus so they would rather screw you over.... Probably think it's funny...

Yeah well I'm not the only one who's been pinged with overdraft fee's. I've only spoken to the people in my department and there are about 6 people who are now in overdraft and bitching about the fee's.

My direct boss said he would sort it out... but I doubt it...

*is still waiting to see what happens...*

Have you been paid already? If not, is it possible that your company has gone belly up, and they're not paying anyone? You'd better find out fast!

Still havn't been paid yet... I don't think we're going belly up... We've just opened new offices in Wellington, ChCh, Melbourne and Sydney... Plus we've been making great sales this year... infact this is the best year we've had since I started working here... and we hired 10 new staff on Monday... surely they wouldn't do that if they knew they were screwed?

I would ring the head of the company or someone high up and tell them very seriously that this is their fault and they should fix it.
I did it once and it worked (I suppose I was the manager of that branch at the time so??)
    Good luck PF

This might be of some help...

    http://www.ers.dol.govt.nz/pay/deductions.html

When & how wages should be paid
Employees should be paid on the day, and at the intervals, agreed with the employer. Employers cannot change the normal pay day without the agreement of the employee.
This link might not work... but there's a phone number down the bottom and they might be able to offer some advice. <link>

    Good luck!

    Sweet thanks

Sniper: Unfortunatley I did ask the highest person at our Auckland Office... he was the one who said no.

Our Director's are both in Australia over seeing the set up of our offices over there...

that sucks! ...but at least lets try to salvage the $50 out of this --- [the bank sounded the least hostile]

    sooooooo mebbe:-

Contact the person you spoke to at the bank

tell them the company deposited the money on time and is blaming
the internet provider so you are unlikely to get a letter from them

if you've been operating an account with this bank for some time
and have been a good customer hitherto, point this out to them

tell them you are fixing the problem and ask if, in this one instance,
they would reverse the fee if you put the circumstances in a letter to them yourself.

..... nothing ventured, nothing gained. Good luck!

ps then move your automatic debits to a later day as already advised on here
--- no matter how reliable an employer usually is, stuff-ups happen

That really sucks, placidfemme. Had a similar couple of experiences when our company's bank screwed up mightily and pay was delayed. As we get paid fortnightly, we're generally prety much on the bones of our arses on payday - food running out, etc - and there are all the APs due to come out.

Not only did the company's bank not do anything to redress the fees we incurred, they promised faithfully that they'd have the money in our accounts by the end of the day and did so only for staff who were customers of their bank, everyone else had to wait for the next day. It was entirely the banks fault so all our payroll staff could do was sympathise with us (in the same boat as us)

All the best getting it sorted out and I hope you get your money reimbursed.

But now I'm even madder than before...

Still havn't got the letter... and by the looks of things I won't be getting it (because then the company would have to admit fault).

They are blaming the internet provider, because apparantly we have a direct link to the bank the company uses that isn't normal internet... it's like a direct link (I have never heard of this before... so I don't know if it's bullshit or not) ... and somewhere between our company and the bank there was a problem and the payments were not sent out...

I asked if I would be re-imbursed for my dishonour fee and was told "no" with absolutley no hesitation...

they said I (yes me personally... not the company) would need to sort that out with the internet supplier and/or bank that the company deals with... which means they are absolutley not taking responsibility for the error and like I said being tight assed bastards won't correct the error or help us (the staff) out.

    *wants to go home*
There is a system that links a company directly into the Bank, normally only larger companies have it.
Do you know who you're company does their banking with and who do you bank with. (PM me if you're comfortable letting me know and I might be able to help out)

lol yeah but I'm a chick I can do two things at once...

Ok well the problem seems to be sorted. Still havn't been paid yet, but I spoke to my personal banker again, and he said they will reverse the fee as "good will". Which has made my day a lot better.

The company held a staff meeting and told everyone that they are sorry for whats happened and that until the directors return they cannot agree to re-imburse the overdraft fee's and so they can't make any garantees until given the go ahead by the bosses...

They said our pay should show today and if not tomorrow... but we'll see.

They brought us all pizza as a "sorry" gesture... and I've never seen 15 pizza's disapear that fast... lol everyone must have been eating thier wages worth or at least trying...

thanks everyone for the advice and support

*has organised to have all my AP's go out on Fri nights at midnight instead of Thurs nights...*

I "think" the company banks with ASB (or ANZ... one of the ones that start with "A"), and I bank with BNZ.

But the problem is mostly sorted now

    Thanks
