"Blasts Hit 3 London Subway Stations, Bus

    By ROBERT BARR
    Associated Press Writer
    Published July 21, 2005, 12:47 PM CDT

LONDON -- Explosions struck the London Underground and a bus at midday Thursday in a chilling but far less bloody replay of the suicide bombings that killed 56 people two weeks ago.

Only one person was reported injured in the nearly simultaneous lunch-hour blasts, which shocked and disrupted the capital and were hauntingly similar to the July 7 bombings by four attackers.

Police Commissioner Ian Blair would not say if any arrests had been made Thursday but he added that forensic evidence collected from the crime scenes could provide a "significant break" in the latest attacks. "

    London Kiwibikers report in please.

    One London KBer checking in.

This time was nowhere near as bad as last time. For those of who you want to get an idea of what went on, the following link is a timetable of today's events from the BBC site:

    Unhappy

I was listening the National Programme this morning and thought I was hearing things! They were saying that they think it may have been a kind of sick copy cat attack as none of the explosives went off.

Gotta admire those Brits though, they're encouragiung people just to carry on.

    Bloody scary stuff though aye!

It seems that the bombings were almost duplicates of the first lot, three tubes and a bus, but the explosives were small and caused no serious injuries or damage.

I think today the group concerned was trying to prove a point and upset londoners and trying to spread panic. This hasn't really worked , most people are just pissed off that these misguided idiots are trying to kill other people.

The police has arrested one person in connection so hopefully are getting the size ten rubber glove body search. Three passengers on one of the Tubes almost caught one of the bombers , pitty they weren't able to hold them down. , but shows the spirit and lack of fear of the locals.

Thought something was up today when the normal tube ride earlier today took 2 1/4 hours instead of the usual 1 1/2. The driver was saying something about signal failure. didn't seem right. The tube braked very hard a couple of times. I went through the central underground section about 45 minutes before the small bombs went off, didn't see anything untoward. Mind you , I've been thinking of some of the Karate Kata's learnt in the past. I'm cetianly not going to stand back and watch someone try and take some else life. If all else fails I'm going to sit on em.

Many of the tube services shut down after todays event's so had to make alternative arrangements of getting back home. The tube station I normally use was closed with a couple of policeman standing outside (Drinking coffee , eating crisps) , so looked pretty relaxed. The Tube drivers on the line had got a bit spooked so wouldn't resume service. Ended up catching a train back to the city and a couple of Tube trains to get back home. No real drama , londoners seemed more worried about getting seats than what had happened.

Note to terroist (if your smart enough to read)
You proved nothing today , plenty of people caught buses and tubes after today. I'll be on the tubes again tomorrow . Get something real to believe in, (like motorcycling). Your all just a bunch of f in cowards with your sucided bombings and hit and runs. Make a difference to the world in a positive way.

Well, I was slightly amused this afternoon when I got to Kelburn shops on my way to Uni and was turned away by a police road block. Evidently there was a bomb scare. In Kelburn of all places! Probably the fault of an innocent old lady who left her bag of knitting in the bus shelter.

In the news today, it's conservatively estimated that 29,000 civilians have died since the invasion of Iraq. 7,000 at the hands of invading troops.
It puts New York, London and Madrid into perpective. It's much more than even Saddam killed.
There'll be many more, but they'll have the consolation of knowing that they died free.

It reminds me of the Crusader who ordered the unbelievers in a town put to the sword. When he was asked how they could know who was an unbeliever, he said to kill them all, God will take his own.

And still Blair insists that the bombings of two weeks ago, and the attempted bombings today are not as a result of his governments support of Bushes attack on Afghanistan and Iraq.
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.

Or put it another way, they killed 22,000 of there own and continue to do so.
Do you think that the forces of USA and Britian should just walk out ? , and what about the 1000's of people that Saddam and his brothers killed before this not to mention all the people that have died when they invaded neighbouring country's. NZ is to small to piss anyone off , or too small to make a difference to countries like that.

I guess this bombing stuff isn't really worhty of news, not enough caustlies for some people here . However , some of us on kiwibiker catch these Tubes and buses everyday , maybe my views are wrong , but I can say that you get a different prespective on things when you wonder if the person sitting next you intends to blow the shit of the people around you. Guess it would be different if it happened on NZ soil , unlikey , but these groups killed Aussie's and Kiwi's in Bali not so long ago.

I was reading on the Tube yesterday that 18 million are facing starvation in Africa and half that number will die if nothing is done , the bombings on the 7th took the focus and pressure off the world leaders to sort this. Now this is tragic , 30,000 people will die each day. This should be on the news every day !.

Well, depending on which websites you trawl, its also possible that its a result of surveys indicating the British people don't have enough support for Bushes attack on Afghanistan and Iraq.

Cue a Brit-style September 11, and you could create a massive groundswell of public opinion against Muslim countries, making it easier to justify the push into Iran later this year.

But who believes anything you read on the net anyway?
