The best looking learner bike in New Zealand. Unique color scheme of Burgundy body work and red wheels plus many mods.
You will become used to receiving complements about the bike from total strangers.

For those who don’t know much about Hornets they are a fantastic to ride and in my opinion are the best bikes to learn on as they are an in-line four 250 which produces a good rev range and horse power far exceeding the new 250 four strokes on the market today.

You will not outgrow or get bored with it in a few months. Good riding position, easy to maneuver through traffic and in town but with plenty of power for open road.

Hornet looks like a proper bike too with most of the parts shared with Honda Hornet 600cc. Ie it does have sexy wide rear wheel (180mm) unlike say anorexic Kawasaki Ninja. It is faster then Hyosung GT250 by 10Bhp and is lighter too. You won't be pressed for an upgrade once you have your full license.

The bike has been my daily ride for the last 4.5 years. I wasn't even planning to sell it, have just serviced it, put new tires but then stumbled upon a middleweight bike which I loved and could not resist buying.

    Bike has the following:

    Unique red wheels
    Genue Honda wind screen
    Aftermarket clear rear lights
Aftermarket gunmetal wide handle bar (much nicer then the steel one that comes in standard)
    Additional chrome detailing all around
    Carbon fiber dials
    Custom mirrors
Rear wheel hugger (which does an excellent job of keeping crap off the suspension)
New front and near new rear Bridgestone Battlax tires (high quality sport-touring tires)

Note that the bike had valve clearance checked at around 25k. It is part of the service schedule and can turn out to be as damaging to your wallet as cambelt replacements with cars. Good to go for another 20k.

I can bring it to your place in Auckland (good if you are inexperienced rider) or can arrange shipping to anywhere in NZ at your cost.

    Contact me either on 021 240 6464 or hornet@ten.net.nz

Where did you find the genuine screen from? How much? Also, hugger...

    Cheers!

As an owner of Hornet(s) big and small, I surely do have a bias for these bikes - yours seems to be a minter as most owners of Hornets do seem to be a tad more passionate about them! Especially the lil'ol'hornets!

Hope it goods to an appreciative rider! Good luck on the sale!

Another overpriced 250. Good luck selling it at that price against all the new shiny 650cc lams bikes.

The 20+ year old 650 bikes, or the 10k+ restricted fat gutless new ones?

Goodluck with your sale! Great bikes the Hornets, still fabulous learner bikes.

    Thanks for the positive replies.

Yes, these days there are approved bikes with cc capacities well over 250 but they are approved for a reason.
Hornet was always one of the gruntiest learner bikes and I was quite worried it could be banned by LTSA because of its power/weight ratio when the new rules came out.

And then there are not that many learner bikes that look like a real bike.

As opposed to an 11 year old 250? As for gutless, torque gives you acceleration not power. That money would get you a 5 year old low mileage Suzuki GS500, a similarly aged Kawasaki KLR650, , a mint 3 year old Suzuki DRZ400 super motard and numerous Honda thumpers.. All of which would piss all over a CB250 on most real roads and make far better learner bikes.

5.5K also buys a BRAND NEW Suzuki Inazuma 250 (ok...not as powerful but shit...it's new)

Look, 4 cyl 250's are fantastic and the CB250 hornet is one of the nicer examples, but they're all stupidly overpriced for what they are. LAMS has changed that...get with the program.

Very nice bike, having ridden a fair few of them I rate them as the nicest 250s and still one of the best LAMS bikes. They get along extremely well and feel like a decent bike, if you think 5.5k is too much, go somewhere else.

Good luck with the sale mate

Agreed - It's a wicked little bike. Heaps of spare parts available too... Cheaply.
