How the hell has this happened Mr Google?

So yesterday I did a google search at work on my work pc for a particular contractor. This morning Mrs Oakie opened her personal tablet at home and fired up google for something and there under recent searches was the contractor I had looked at at work yesterday. Please explain how this can happen?

When you say contractor, do you mean Hooker?

Microsoft Explorer and Office at work, Firefox and Office at home. Tablet ... whatever browser it uses (Samsung). No Chrome anywhere unless that's what's on the tablet. (Mrs Oakie has gone away with it.)

They know where you live and where you work. You connect both, and more. In fact you should accept that they could auto-navigate you through your internet activity for the day in a more efficient manner than you can... should you let them. As has been noted by a few members here, some posts hit google instantly. It's under the guise of customer service i.e. limiting the crap results from your search according to your internet history preference. They're doing you a favour
    I didn't think!!! I experimented!!!

True enough. I googled the title of this very thread and there it was, right at the top of the list.
I'm going to go and live under a rock. (Oakie trudges away from thread disconsolately ... kicks rock in frustration ... breaks toe. Swears.)

Yep, when you log in into your google account across devices it then "knows" you. ie, when logged in, and going to Maps, I can type home to x, and it knows where home is.

Because it knows you, it will also know your search preferences. ie, if you searched for something remotely motorcycle related while not logged in, you might find the result way down the results. Log in, and it will likely return the same result much higher up.

Don't worry, they say it's much better for you
