Had ringside seats at Ardmore when she came out! Amazing airplane, beautiful and bloody deadly to boot.
Have seen her up close and alongside the Anson she is light years ahead of anything else being produced at the time.
The Anson though is a superb example of what OUR guys and girls here in NZ can do with a 70 odd year old aircraft. perfect is too simple a description they rock.
Enjoy that show guys, wish I could be there .
Every day above ground is a good day!:

The entire NZ airforce would probably gets it's arse kicked by that beautiful collection of memorabilia.

I live near Hobsonville and yesterday the Chopper was practicing steep descents and today the Boeing 757 was doing some fast, low, steep turns around the Base. I guess they are practicing for the show this weekend.

Unfair comparison. If ever there was a completely misnamed organisation, it would have to be the "air" "force". Less than 30 air-worthy craft, and only one jet -- a 757. Oh, and a band.

My Dad was in the airforce, he said the crews all loved their Mozzies. They ended up carrying a heavy bomber bomb load further and faster than the 4 engine heavies, exposed the crews to less danger for a shorter time.

Good on DeHavland for building a fast bomber out of ply wood that didn't have full air ministry backing.

Just down the road from where I grew up there was a complete one in a Barn. I remember sitting in it as a kid. Dad said when they were trying to work out how it was made so they could rebuild the flying one they came and Xrayed the whole plane.

A stunning aircraft. And it just goes to show how good the engineers were, going from approval to build in March 1940 to flying by November. Nowadays we take 5 years to build a payroll system that doesn't work...thats progress for ya

Music to the ears. 5 Merlins (mosquito, two spitfires and a mustang), two Packards (two P40s) and one huge radial being that amazing corsair all flying together. I could listen to that every day.

Nope sorry Berg, that'd most likely be 4 Merlin's the Mossie and the two Spitfires, 1 Packard Merlin the P51 and 2 Alison's the 2 KittyHawks, unless they were both much later models which were sometimes fitted with a Merlin, certainly the Officer commanding Rukahia had his own Kitty re engined with a Merlin, it turned out to be a devastatingly fast and manouverable aircraft, almost as good they said as the last of the Spit's and Mustangs.
Cannot think of better Music to listen too either, an awesome sight ain't they and here they are in our little country, showing the world how to do it!

I got some video today, not particularly good, its bloody hard to see the planes against the sky in the bright sun on a little lcd screen. The corsair and a P40 did a few laps together, the corsair looks twice as big !The Mossie was amazing, but it is still the merlins in the MK 1X that turns my skin to gooseflesh. Will try to get a video up
