    Composite to VGA adaptor?

I've got an old PS2 that I'd like to keep using, when I get rid of my old T.V.

It has an ordinary composite output cable.

I've got a (currently un-used) HDD/DVD recorder that'd do the job, having composite inputs and an HDMI output, but my spare monitors only have DVI and VGA inputs.

    Anyone have a product recommendation?

This kind of thing exists: http://www.trademe.co.nz/computers/c...-551796875.htm

But $125 is too much to keep an old PS2 useful.

    PS2 -> HDD recorder -> http://www.trademe.co.nz/computers/c...-553067869.htm -> Monitor

Are you sure your HDD recorder can upconvert composite to HDMI on the fly? That takes a bit of processing power

Will your new tv not have a composite input?

This won't work for composite - it is for seperate RGB inputs

    Sorry, I don't think that's what I need. (That's VGA to BNC).

Yep. We used to watch Sky through it (connected via composite, then HDMI to T.V.), so we could record to HDD, so we could burn to DVD, so we could "loan" to my in-laws. (Who now have their own Sky).

It cost $399, and my Wife did it exactly once.

(I hit "buy-now" on that auction. Thanks.)

It was delivered fast, but just now tested it. Works fine.

Just need to find the easiest way to hook up the audio to something (probably line out from HDD/DVD thing to line in on the PC, and use its speakers) and I'm away ...

Found a 2 x RCA to 3.5 mm cable, just long enough to connect the HDD/DVD recorder to the line-in on the PC.

    ... and it all works.

    Thanks.

Have to set the HDD/DVD thing to output 720 x 576, else I get weird ghosting effects, but since a PS2 isn't particularly high res that's no issue.

Woot. Now to find my 4 Medal of Honour disks...

    (May try the Wii next...)
